don't you know that you're only making God look like an ego-maniac? you are causing downfall to the rest of Christianity because of your twisted truth.

The ignorant fundies have made me hate Christianity with a passion.
I know there are good Christians who can actually think but it seems they don't speak up and tell the idiots to shut up.
You just did.
Bush made an impression of this country and i doubt if there will ever be another fundie president.

Inflammatory, but still a valid point. Perhaps you would get more useful responses if you were a little less antagonistic?
I've often wondered about the thought processes of certain groups. Like the nut-jobs who bomb abortion clinics, usually killing several people, because they beleive abortion is murder. Murder to prevent murder? How does that make sense in a philosophy that cliams christianity?

there will always be legalistic fundamentalists. In Jesus day he had to deal with the Pharisees and Saducees. Following the bible is a good thing, but becoming legalistic and self-righteous is not.

ok, what makes us bible-fundamentalists? I can tell you that the word fundamentalist used to mean- that we believe in sin, and that we need a savior, and that Jesus was born of a virgin, came to earth to die for our sins, and rose to give us victory over death, and sent the Holy Spirit to help us live a life that pleases God. Today people have misunderstood that phrase. Legalists are what you are referring too- those like the Pharisees who tell people that they need to change, when they themselves are not living the life they tell others to live. The truth about the fundamentals of the Christian faith are not that- those of us who believe the bible, believe that we are sinners, saved by almighty God, through Christ, and we desires others to come to know Christ and His forgiveness.

because Christians believe there's power in numbers, so the more Christians there are (despite their wild version of it) the more influence they'll have in U.S. politics and society, or so they think

What gives you the right to say what is twisted and what is real? Do you think you know better?
I'm not on the fundamentalist's side (not at all) but if you will acuse them in order to preach your own beliefs, you are no better

Fundamentalists do have a tendency to affirm atheists in their beliefs. So I am not sure..... I think I might actually approve of them. :)
