Your own. A poor child is poor, it doesn't know anything about how poor the other children might be.

In fact, why not PERSONALLY join the Big Brothers/Big Sisters or another reputable program and give your TIME to help with foster or orphan children? Treat them with human respect, though, and acknowledge that you get a lot out of doing it instead of focusing on yourself as being a saint.

Sorry for the lecture, but we've lost the meaning and benefits of truly helping others, and it makes me sad to see questions framed in this fashion.

The #1 poorest Country is Haiti #2 is Nicaragua I would chose either or. I sponsored a family in Nicaragua whom i send donations to and all of my child's clothing that she grows out of i send it to them which they in turn sell for profits. In a flea market kinda style.

My child is in Haiti, however, a child is a child.
I chose Haiti because my husband served in Haiti while in the Army and became intralled with the story of the strength of the people in Haiti, and especially in the poorest regions.
Where does your heart tug?

The world is one nation.
you cannot change it one person at a time.
starvation and poverty are often results of corruption of gouvernment rather than lack of money. Sponsor a child through a reputable charity, like the red cross, who go where help is needed at any time, or get involved in politics, the world needs thoughtful giving people like you.

Haiti, Sudan and Darfur - there are so many. Feed the Children is a good organization to help. James Robison is involved with these poor countries and he loves the children.
It is good to help them. They build water wells for villages of the poor, but they'd certainly show how you could help one child. They help many.
