Why do they feel the need to invade our lives and our personal freedoms to attempt to soothe thier OWN souls. Why do they feel the need to surround us with thier "beliefs", whethere its complainging about the ten commandments on a courthouse or putting mandated prayer back in school? Why does there seem to be no middle ground? And how to those Christians justify wanting a theocracy to themselves? Isn't that like treason or something. Maybe it should be....

Lady if your god has an issue with me, he can tell me to my face. Otherwise I'm not too damn worried about it.

The ten commandments are rip off of about ten religions. Just because you all think you are THE end all of morals doesn't make your delusion true.

CJ you are the light in my day. Thank you for proving my point.
AdoreHim: Good to know you are in it for the brownie points alone. Now leave my soul the hell alone.

Because their religion tells them that this is the case.
I can't blame them for following the dictates of their own faith. But darn it, it DOES get annoying sometimes, and when it starts to cross over into government policy, it gets dangerous.

I seriously thinking that the demands of Christianity being made today are efforts to insure that they will remain at least barely alive tomorrow. I believe that Christianity in the US is seeing the handwriting on the wall. Europe has already experienced a tremendous tidal movement away for Christianity and the wave is headed this way.
In Europe, Humanism and Paganism are growing out of the former Christian population along with Islam which is growing very rapidly due to immigration. Christianity, and especially Catholicism, are failing to keep pace and are losing their membership in droves. I suspect that similar change will follow here in the US.
Desiring change toward a US Christian theocracy is a "panic button" response to the probability of facing possible remarkable decline without securing such political clout that there could be strong laws written to stem the tide of change.
...and yes, it does seem a sort of un-American, treasonous, attitude, doesn't it ?

Simply put...this comes form them having been taught that their religions is the only right one and everyone else is wrong. This is the legace of monotheism in general, the idea that there can only be one way and every one must submit eventually , either my coercion, by subversion, or by force. When you look back at history, you can see the slow but steady process of their infiltration (like the addition to the pledge of allegiance of the phrase "under God" in 1953 in resoponse to the "threat" of communism as a way to show the moral superiority of America through the public acknowledgment of the Christian god. Again the legacy of monotheistic beliefs where there can only be one way ane everyhting else..well...

Well, just on the issue of prayer in school - that was something that was taken away from us, and many people want that restored. When there are allowances for other religions in the public schools, I don't see why they can't make some accomodations to Christianity as well.
And it's not that we want to invade your personal freedoms, but we expect OUR freedoms to be upheld as well. Why is it a big deal for you for the 10 commandments to be in the courthouses - they have been there for hundreds of years, and until now, there have been no complaints.
While Christianity may be the largest religion in the USA, it is also the most persecuted. I, as a Christian, am tired of having MY rights and freedoms infringed upon because I am a Christian.

They think they are doing you a great good, cause they try to "save" you. This is life, some people grew in families who were extra religious or were just taught to believe everything they read or what they are told. It's sad when this happens with people who are not open minded, and who will keep those ideas from childhood for all their lifes even when the facts contradict their beliefs

It isn't my way. Its Gods way. Why do Atheists need to dictate what people believe? Why are you so desperate? Leave us alone here in out space. If there is a treason it is the current governments and systems. Treason to God. Call it theocricy if you like but it is inevitable that God rules. even you even if you don't like it even if you reject it.

Part of me says its b/c they're not secure in their own religion to allow others to believe what they want.
Another part of me says its b/c they're told that they will get eternal glory for saving others' souls.
*shrug* And another part of me says its b/c that's what they feel is the 'right' thing to do-- to spread the word of what makes them feel so good, whole, complete....
Now... ultimately, I think that its just part of the faith and the practice- like our faith and practice is to just live and let live.

I do not share my faith in Christ just because it is my faith, and I want everyone to believe as I do- I share my faith, because God says that the way of salvation is through Christ alone. With Christ there is no middle ground. I had to come to that realization myself- doing that I had to admit that I am a sinner, in need of Salvation- and Jesus is the only way to salvation- I do not say that, God does. I am not saying this to soothe my own soul, I am sharing because i care enough about you to want you know Jesus. However, I will never say, you must do this, it is your choice- you are not to answer to me.
where in my answer did you see me in it for the brownie points? I would like to know. I am a believer because of what Christ did for me, there is nothing in me that deserves it- brownie points mean I have attempted to do something to earn His love. Which I did not- like I said, it is your choice, you asked this question, so I answered it.

Because mental illness and fanaticism go hand in hand. there is no reasoning with people that refuse to look outside of what they have been taught.

well since you say "some" Christians, then this question is actually a very general question, which can be asked like this:
"Why do some PEOPLE feel it must be their way or no way at all"
There is no answer for your question, everyone is different, and every Christian is different.
Seems like you just want to vent your anger you have against a certain group of people who happen to be christians.
