I would like to know if any of you guys had a shape one way or got a different physical shape when expecting either a boy or girl. I am very curious. I'm about 4 months preg. already
(first pregnancy), and no one has noticed it. I can tell that I haven't had much physical changes, except that my stomach is not as flat as it use to be. These are ex. of my only changes: I hardly get any acne, I've never felt my breasts sore, and they haven't gotten larger either, I've never experienced morning sickness, I crave a lot of spicy food, my urine is almost clear, and I do feel tired almost all the time. I haven't gained much weight except a belly that begins below my belly. I wish i could get an ultrasound but I haven't been able to get any prenatal care yet; and i am just full of questions...

No, you can't tell by your phisical appearance. I think you need to see a doctor asap as good prenatal care can help assure a healthy pregnancy. There are programs to help with bills if you have no insurance.

They are all Old Wives' Tales about whether a baby is a boy or a girl based on physical appearance of the mom. I have been a mom for 28 years to 4 kids who are now 28, 26, 22, and 10. I am also grandma to a 6 month old grandson. I have 3 girls and 1 boy. Each pregnancy was different and I carried each one of my babies differently. My oldest I carried all out front in my belly (couldn't tell from behind that I was pregnant) and just as many swore that was the sign of a girl as those who swore it was the sign of a boy. It was a girl. I had pretty text-book morning sickness that stopped when I went into my second trimester. I carried my second born the same way and it was a boy. I had morning sickness all day for the whole nine months with him. Urine color has nothing to do with a boy or a girl either. Being tired is common in the first trimester as well. It is an exciting time, being pregnant (whether it be your first or your 4th), and the questions are understandable. Some doctors will perform a routine ultrasound around 20 months and you may be able to find out the sex of the baby then, but not every baby is laying optimally to get a good picture of the necessary parts. I didn't know for sure the sex of any of my kids until they were born. I think it is more fun to be surprised. Even my grandson's sex was a surprise to all of us as my daughter and son-in-law opted not to find out ahead of time, kind of a rare occurence in this day and age. While pregnant with my youngest daughter I read a book called "What to Expect When You Are Expecting". It was a really helpful book and you can buy it at a bookstore or borrow it from your library. My oldest daughter read it when she was pregnant with my grandson, too. It answers a lot of questions. There is also a website.

Why in the world have you not been able to get prenatal care yet? They should have at least had you come in once to have an ultrasound, talk with your doctor, have blood work done, and determine your due date. If it's that they couldn't see you yet, find another doctor. If it's a money/insurance issue, get on Medicaid. But at four months, you should have already seen the doctor at least once.

Your reactions to pregnancy are mostly common, regardless of the gender. Most first-time moms start showing (obviously) around the fourth or fifth, sometimes even sixth, month. Some women barely show through the entire pregnancy.

All pregnancies are different. It doesn't mean anything that you don't have all the typical baby "symptoms".

According to the "old wives", everything means something. If you carry low, you will have a girl. If you have bad morning sickness, you will have a boy.

In my opinion, the old wives were stupid.

There's just nothing of substance to back up these theories. Yes, they get it right sometimes, but I carried low and didn't have bad morning sickness, but had boys.

No This is a myth, there is no scientific fact to back this up at all.

Some people will say they can tell but seriously, they have at least a 50/50 chance of getting it right and if they guessed right the last three times, it does not in no way mean they will guess right again.... they might "guess" right but don't paint your walls based on their assumptions alone.

Have you seen a doctor yet, did you take the opportunity to ask questions then. It is very important you understand what is happening to your body right now. This will help with your stress as well as help you make the right decisions for you and your baby's well being.

When asking medical questions you really should consult a qualified person. Some of the answers you will find on here are not always accurate so take the responses with a grain of salt and some common sense. :O)

Good luck with the baby.

Side note: I realized you asked for "experienced moms" but please don't forget there are many "experienced fathers" out here as well. Gender does not always grant a person instant education or understanding, believe me, when I was attending classes when we were expecting our first child, I was amazed at how many women didn't have a clue about their own bodies, organs, etc. As further food for thought, how many male gynecologists do you know vs women gynecologists?

I come from Indonesia, and we have this strong believe that the shape of the stomach during pregnancy could determine the sex of the baby. If your stomach grow the front of you and you still have waist curve (from the back), there's a high chance of having baby boy. But if your stomach grow to the side and you lost the waist curve, it might be a girl.

Also, some people said that your choice of physical appearance during pregnancy. For instance, if you suddenly lost interest in wearing make-up (and this is so not you!) then it could be a boy. If you suddenly take good care of your choice of clothes it might be a girl.

I myself have experienced two pregnancy and back then, when people look me from behind they couldn't tell i'm pregnant because my stomach grew to the front. And both of my children are boys. My sister in law, on the other hand, seemed to lost her waist curve. Her stomach grew to the side. She delivered baby girl.

Don't panic, you sound very healthy to me, I never had morning sickness with any of my 4 children, They do not advise you to gain excess wight as it takes longer to loose.
Spicy food is OK but in the later stage it will give you heart burn you can take Galveston for that. With my girls I carried all round, with the boys I just had a bump in the front and did not look pregnant from the back, When you have the heart beat of your baby monatered girls is higher than boys.
I wish you well and enjoy being pregnant.

No, they are just old wise tales. I look the same for both pregnancies, but I have wanted to eat different things and I am a little bit more hormonal in a mean way this time. I will have two girls.

Nope - I've carried mine similarly, but a bit differently - all boys.

A friend carried each of hers very differently - all boys also.
