Here is a webpage to compare different media players. I hope it helps you decide what works best for you. Each player has different features, and some have simular features but may perform the tasks differently. Anyway, this is the best comparison chart because it is not supporting one over the other, just lists eachs features and capabilities. A lot of music lovers use several different players because of how one might be good for a certain task and yet another for a different one. I don't think there is one player which contains every feature you might need for the widest range of abilities. Most of these players are free.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_media_players
Wikipedia is not affiliated with any of these players so you can trust what information is provided. Also, these pages are edited by the general population, thus by individuals whom have a wide range of understanding of whichever topic they edit. Also, these pages are checked and evaluated for accuracy and a lack of bias.
Good luck and have a nice day.

well if you like media player and want to keep it but just are not satisfied with the new MP11 and want your old MP10 back it is a simple procedure. Go to start control panel click classic view and dbbl click add and remove programs look in the list you will see MP 11. Choose to install it. Once complete it will ask you to reboot the system. And there ya go when it comes back up it will be MP10. Also if you have auto updates on you may want to hide that update or it will just reinstall it.

You can download VLC. Here is a good link: http://j.mp/1v82Dlq
VLC (Video lan connect player) is a great free opensource software. VLC has a built in dvd decoder and can play pretty much any media file. Some formats it can play: MOV WMV AVI DVD MPEG MP4 VOB 3GP MPG.
When Windows Media player doesn't work, use VLC.
I highly recommend VLC over any other media player.

I quite like WMP11, I hate Real Player, VLC is good if you want to play ipod mp4 files. Winamp is another good one. Try a few out, see what comes out tops for you.
Personally, I like WMP11 because I don`t have a lot of music on my hard drive (mainly games). And I like it because it downloads all the album pictures and organised my songs into folders.
