I think it's a lack of common sense.

That's something girls do mostly out of ease/laziness or whatever else you may wish to call it.
I must say though, if I wear a jacket, I tend to wear pants, unless I've been working out in shorts and put the jacket on afterward, or it's raining but I don't want to hold an umbrella. Otherwise, I may be cold enough to wear gloves, but not cold enough to need a long sleeve shirt or pants. (hands get cold much faster)

To be completely honest, it's a comfort issue. I'm a guy and I'd often wear shorts, flip flops with a hoodie--it's just so comfortable in early spring or late fall.
Also, it's a way to show support for your school. Most college kids wear a hoodie with their school logo on it instead of a jacket in the fall and spring.

It's apparently a fashion. Some girls wear shorts and sweatshirts for when they go jogging or walking. I have never worn shorts with a sweatshirt because I am always cold.

It is not a need to look sexy, I can tell you that and it isn't a fashion trend. They are indoors most of the time during winter and it isn't cold inside. Same with the fall. That's why. They feel comfortable in shorts and flip flops.

Haha, im guilty.
Im not sure why girls do it..
I think becuase were i live it can be freezing cold in the morning then warm up and be in the 70's later on. So by wearing shorts your ready for the hot weather and the hoodie is on to keep you warm until then... usually underneath is a tank top or somthing.

Because here in America we are all hot-blooded and super-human. What do the girls wear where you are from???
;)
Actually, its for comfort and speed. It doesnt take long to throw on and the legs usually dont get cold as fast as the arms. Flip flops are the fastest shoes around. And lets face it in college you run short on time and energy and most of the time a real student really doesnt care how they look...

I think it's like they are representing their school with their hoodie, but then they are warm. I don't know, a lot of girls wear the short shorts whenever and wherever they can get someone to look.

It's the fashion. Why would any female wear the most uncomfortable things ever invented: pantyhose and high heels? Fashion.
Why do exchange students from Scandanavian countries wear these really weird boots with huge platforms? Such boots make no sense in Southern California and the teetering walk makes me believe that they aren't comfortable. Must be foreign fashion.

Not sure why. Alot of girls do this, I am guilty as well..But I always wore an outfit like this when it warm enough for shorts but still a little chilly...Really no difference then wearing blue jeans with a t-shirt..just backwards! :)
