Because...................Brigham also thought Jesus was a god..............and that someday, he too would be a god.
He was not a prophet...............Adam was a man and so was Brigham Young.

There is a scripture in the Bible that says that Jesus was the first Adam and the last Adam. Jesus said I and my father are one . Since Jesus or the first Adam brought sin into the world, maybe that is why he gave his life and layed it down to redeem man from the original sin he brought into the world, the second Adam. As concerning the teachings that
Adam was God, I think you are probably correct, I'll have to ask my Mormon daughter.I know for a fact that they believe in a Heaven Mother, but little is taught about her. The Mormon's also teach that Adam was the Arch Angel Michael who is one that stands before the throne and intercedes for us.

It's like the article says. It is alleged that they taught this. It is alleged that Mormons have horns and many other false things. Since there is nothing Brigham Young actually said to support this, it seems you have no point... Read the article before you post a questions about it next time.

We don't really know what he meant by what he said. We don't even know if that's exactly what he did say. One LDS scholar/apologist said that it's an anomily.
Because in that very same speech, he said that GOD was Elohim, and that Adam was Michael. So, he couldn't have meant that Adam was our God that we worship over our Heavenly Father.
