You asked an honest question, so I am going to give you an honest answer. Wait until we are moving between stations and then just walk up and say 'hi'. Remember we're in the gym, sweating in gym clothes, so were on a level playing field. 'Maybe we can get togther for a sandwich or something one day next week...'

Well I'm not a guy, but you could ask them something. Say you saw them doing an exercise that looked interesting and you wanted to know what it worked. Just don't interrupt his set. Keep it exercise related and see where it goes from there.
I'm not interested in any guys at the gym, but I've made plenty of gym friends that way. It's not intimidating and your not coming on to them right out. Good luck!

Ok, as a self-confessed gym snob, it has to be when the guy is moving between stations. Bad etiquette anywhere else. And while we are on the subject, dont walk between people and the mirror they are watching their form in. I hate that!

i want to be left alone when i am doing my exercises.
it doesnt matter if it is a girl or a boy that start talking to me. in both cases i will ignore them or say somthing short back like yes.

When you see him near a piece of equipment, ask him: Would you show me how to use this ? Then....take it from there.

It's okay to say 'hi' - and introduce yourself. No big deal.
