Christians, lets be honest. The only reason you believe God is lovable is because you believe He is saving you from eternal torment and punishment. This world is filled with an unimaginable amount of pain and the next world will be the same for most as well. Do we deserve this? Should God expect perfection from beings He created deeply flawed? Why should we love God for creating this predicament?

Folks, I want to love God, I really do. I just find it hard to considering how much suffering there is in the world. The world is this way because of how God made us. Why is it that so few accept Jesus? Because we are blind? Why did God create a being that is so predisposed to reject Him? Why did He create a being that is born evil?
Also, God was not hurt one bit by having his "only Son" die for our sins. God could have avoided this whole mess by giving us a nature that tended to be good rather than bad.

Carmel, Adam and Eve wouldnt have sinned if there wasn't something bad in them. Anyway, do you really think God planned for all of us to live in the garden of Eden? If He did, He wouldn't have let the serpant into the garden and He wouldn't have created the tree of knowledge. Good grief people

Why should God love you for maligning and misrepresenting him? Yet his love is offered to you as much as to everyone else. 'For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son... For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.' (John 3:16-17).
Still, if you don't want to be saved you're not going to grasp the lifebelt thrown to you as you flounder in the water. Just don't blame the lifeboat guys for you drowning, that's all.

"The idea that is most widespread is that Christians must observe an immensity of commandments and prohibitions, and that we are more free without such burdens. Instead, I want to be clear about the fact that being supported by a great Love is not a burden, and that it is beautiful to be a Christian." God made us mortal like the animals. He then separated us from the animals by making us in His image and likeness meaning we could create, communicate, reason, will, have authority and love. He was going to give us immortality by eating of the Tree of Life which is symbolic of obeying God's express commands which Adam and Eve did not do. Their punishment was death, physical and spiritual. Thus, a gulf was created between perfect, holy God and sinful man. But God loves us so much, that He came to this planet and suffered and died for us to take our punishment upon Himself. We can then spend eternity with God like it was meant to be by believing He did this in the person of Jesus Christ. That's why I love God. I love life, too.

He didn't create us deeply flawed. We were created in His image and innocent of sin. When Adam and Eve sinned It was an enormous thing because they were not subject to the inclination to disobey God. The decision to eat of that one tree was purely an objective decision without any knowledge of what they would really get out of it besides to know evil. So they chose to know evil instead of obey God and that offended God so much that He punished their whole race. He created people good, they chose evil.Evil doesn't come from God, He gives grace to those who ask for it to do His will because He loves us.

ok so God created us with one flaw, other that that we would be perfect, this flaw you speak of, it's called free will, and I'm pretty sure you like to exercise yours regularly.
So God said you must obey all my laws or be punished because I am a just God
then since we have free will and could never obey all his laws all the time, I'm sure I break them every day all the time. He said, ok since I am a loving God I will save you from your sins and I will give you a way to be saved even though you cannot possibly be perfect.
So then he lived and suffered the pain of a man (and more) and suffered a terrible death, remember if you have read the bible, in the old testement they all had to sacrifice animals all the time to be holy, it was a sacrifice that wouldd tide God over before the ulitimate sacrifice.
God himself was the ultimate sacrifice
Think about it like your a father (or mother)
and you have kids
you say, if you disobey my rules you must be punished
when they disobey your rules you think I'm their parent I have to punish them I said I would, then you think, but I don't want to punish them!!!!
I love them!
What if now, your child got in trouble with the law, a law that you support, you would say no!
you might help pay their legal fees or hire them a lawyer, you would be mad, but you would still love them so much you wouldnt want them to get the ultimate punishment
So thats kinda it
Hope it helps,
Jess

Actually God did create us perfectly (remember Adam and Eve) but he gave us the right to choose how we want to live, and Adam and Eve choose to sin. God doesn't expect perfection from us at all--He died for us expecting nothing in return. He offers us the gift of eternal life if we will believe in Him--not according to our behavior. Thus we are saved by grace, not our works. I love God because He forgives me over and over again as every day I mess up and do stupid and selfish things. He will always forgive me, always love me, always accept me. He is the only being that is capable of unconditional love. Sounds pretty good to me.

No. If he existed at all, he has permitted the killings of millions of his "chosen" people and had his own son brutally executed, just for starters. Doesn't seem very lovable to me.
I used to be a Christian and found the christian god not only to be bloodthirsty, but cold, distant, uncaring, and impersonal. I then realized that's why many Christians are hard, bitter, intolerant, and close minded. That's when I decided to become a better person and change religions.

Oh, so wrong!
Andrae Crouch said it in his song,
"If heaven never was promised to me,
Neither God's promise to live eternally,
It's been worth just having the Lord in my life,
Living in a world of darkness, He brought me the Light."
He set me free from a lifestyle of drugs, booze, cigs, etc. He gave me a new heart, restored my mind, and actually forgave me for my sins!
God created us perfect, and for you to accuse Him otherwise, that's just rebellion on your part. God cares deeply about you, but personally, I say you deserve what you get with THAT kind of attitude. (Sorry, I'm not perfect like God, yet).
When you look upon God, and see His infinite love for you, and see the great wickedness of your heart, you will KNOW you deserve the eternal punishment.
But, amazingly enough, even WITH that attitude of yours, He STILL wants to forgive you and adopt you into His Forever Family. But, He won't force Himself on you. If you choose to live your life without Him, He will honor that. Just don't blame God for YOUR attitudes!
He still loves you, even though I, personally, am angry at you!
Additional thought: It's a good thing I'm not God, isn't it?

I disagree.
Do you not think yourself to be good? And if God created you wouldn't that be also good?
When I bring up the subject of being created, many unbelievers will say that they parents created them and, of course, they love their parents. But if God was the One who really created us, wouldn't He be even more beloved than the parents for He would have created the parents also?

Which version you talking about? The O.T. God, where he's like a woman with a serious special time of the month problem (sorry ladies) or the N.T. God, where he's like a new mother, all lovy dovy and what not (hope I redeemed myself ladies)? If it's the O.T. which "doesn't apply anymore" I would say no, but if it's the N.T. God...where he kills his own son to forgive sins...I would still say no, since he killed his own son for something he could have prevented (or solved) by just snapping his figures (hey...if he can create light and darkness by a twitch of his nose, why can't he forgive with a twitch of his nose?) Hope this helps.
