Isn't it true that the church only outlawed it because of U.S. government pressure and that if not for that you'd still be practicing it?

I believe it is, yes. My friend's mom died when he was 12 years old. His parents were sealed in the temple. His dad remarried, in the temple, and they had 3 children. Now when all is said and done, why would the Lord make his dad choose which wife and children to be with? He won't. It will be possible for them all to be together. Now, do I think every man will have more than one wife? No, not even close. But, I do believe even during the millenium, there may be polygamous marriages... I have heard it said before that there will be more women in heaven than men...so... that would make me think those women will need husbands. We will just have to wait and see!
Also - polygamy was stopped because the Lord said to stop it. did it have something to do with it being illegal? Probably since we believe in obeying the laws of the land. But, whether or not it was legal or illegal, it was stopped by the command of God. Not because of worldly pressure.

Mormon men actaully believe that they are going to have their own planet to rule one day. That's why they support ideas of polygamy and have lots of kids and also baptize the dead. (who may not WANT to be be Mormon)

Think I'm wrong? I lived in SLC long enough. Also read "Under The Banner Of Heaven"..you'll be floored by what you discover.

Yes, because in the next life there will be more woman than men, and us women want to be sealed to someone we love.

The second part is NOT true however, we stopped it because God told us to stop. We originally had it though so women could have the same rights. Woman weren't allowed to have land unless married, ect.

Sure,

Polygamy is allowed on earth for those who are destined to go to heaven.

I fully support non believers adopting monogamy as GODS way of limiting their numbers.

That's what I heard when I was part of that church. It bothered me quite a bit. I was a child and my teachers would tell me that when I got there, I would understand.

I'll ask Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I get there, and let you know. :-)
