Now, I know a lot of you know me on this site - and most of you should know that I tend to be one of the more respectful and "tolerant" atheists on this site. So, it came as quite a shock (ok, not really...) this morning to open my mail and find this:

"From: Greg T

Subject: You are lost and stupid

Message: You are lost and, judging by your posts, you are incredibly stupid. I am so much smarter than you are, that it's not even funny. Actually, it is funny.
Look, you are living in sin and you are blinded to the truth. Turn to Jesus, accept Him as your savior. You are currently on the road to Hell but Jesus can help you to pull off onto the exit before it's too late. I'll pray for you."

Now, whoever wrote this is not stupid - it is grammatically correct, broken into paragraphs, and all with correct spelling... So, how could someone who seemingly possesses some intelligence be so.... well, you know. Insulting others is against TOS, and I dont want to be accussed...

FORMER Atheist - Im willing to bet you $10 that not one of those emails youre received are from me. Further, no, its not right - Im not stupid, Im not lost, and Im not a sinner (as "sin" is a religious concept and since Im not religious, I dont sin.) Again, its judgmental and hypocritical for your brother to have sent that - yet you ignore all his faults to point at mine?

OK, The Nolte is going to sound biased, given that I have a mad crush on you, So-crates, but I couldn't disagree more with this Greg douchebag. Your contributions here have only demonstrated that you're fiercely intelligent, well-read, witty, AND you possess a great sense of humor. If your breed of human is "on the road to Hell", then The Nolte would be honored to sit next to you on that ride.

Edit: The accolades are well deserved, my friend. I'll bet all this time you've assumed you were one of The Nolte's favorites based solely on your sheer sexiness. Not true.

Well, after a fashion this would be a true statement. But the truth of it is simpler and much more sad. You are a sinful person and facing judgment. The Christian is not better than you merely better off. But with a simple contrite prayer you immediately are equal to any Christian and even the Pope himself. Christian's should not have to advertise themselves as good and decent it should be par for the course. But, a non Christian, who could be good and decent, is under no restraints and therefore you are open to anything. When I say I am Christian, which is only when some one asks me, I am only saying that and not insinuating anything. I much rather live my life and let people decide if they see the light of Christ in me. Sadly some people just see me as a good person and not a Godly one.

Socrates - darling - you are on my buddy list because you are bright and intelligent (and since intelligence is also the sexiest quality in a man....wink....). I don't give a damn about your religious views other than you spark interesting conversation.

Lost? -- I would send you a GPS
Stupid? -- definitely not.

I don't care if you accept Jesus, Buddah, Q, Darth Vader, Norris Almighty I still plan to keep you on my buddy list. OH and if you do perchance head to Greg's hell, I will provide you with the hand basket ;) and maybe go along for the ride ;)

Oh and one more thing - Greg may have adequate grammar and understand the usage of paragraphs, but any idiot can use spell check.

I believe Greg owes you a sincere apology. I am a Christian and those remarks are not reflective of christian behavior. I am certain that most christians would be quite upset at the abrasive comment directed at you.

I believe in God. The message of Christ is one of love, patience, understanding, forgiveness and peace.

I suspect Greg T is a troll posing as a Christian.

For one thing he is a coward, in that he hides his questions & answers.

The thing that really sealed this for me was in one of his lame-a$$ "questions" he said that everyone was a sinner EXCEPT HIM !

I have NEVER,NEVER, heard a Christian claim to be the only human that has never sinned. That quality is ascribed to Jesus Christ himself.

In fact, in EVERY Christian denomination I have ever encountered, to claim to be a person who has NEVER sinned would be blasphemy.

I am surprised that Greg T's account has not been pulled already. He is nothing but a hateful troll with NOTHING intelligent to contribute to this board.

Since they won't terminiate his account, I suggest that EVERYONE stop feeding the troll and ignore his ridicuoluous "questions"

This is sad and in vain. By no means is this how the word is to be spread but rather through compassion and love. It saddens my soul to see Christians act this way.

I apologise as a devout Christian for the action of my brother but I do also hope that one day you may find the love and Grace that can be found in faith in the son Christ Jesus

No.He sounds lost.Calling people stupid is not a Christian thing to do.He is misguided in doing that.

“Love is patient; love is kind
and envies no one.
Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;
never selfish, not quick to take offense.
There is nothing love cannot face;
there is no limit to its faith,
its hope, and endurance.
In a word, there are three things
that last forever: faith, hope, and love;
but the greatest of them all is love.”

I am so sorry that someone did that to you. He wasn't showing the Love that a christian should show. but you must understand something no one is perfect and it's christians who act this way who make people turn even further from God. Thank you for being respectful to christians it shows you have a good heart and that just because you don't understand something your not gonna bash it. Don't you worry either b/c God will deal with his behavior of that you can be certain. I will pray however for God to reveal Himself to you so that you can live a full and abundent life.

i received a message from him this weekend too (I particularly liked when he said I needed to grow up!):

From: Greg T

Subject: you need Jesus

Message: Have you accepted Jesus as your savior? I assume not. You will go to Hell if you don't accept Jesus as your savior. Now I know you are an atheist and therefore incredibly stupid. You're going to have to read the bible and grow up. Do you know how to read? You are an abomination unto the Lord.

You know, you actually are one of the more tolerant atheists on here. Maybe it just annoys Greg that you're on the other side.

Actually, I think it'd be awesome to have someone like you on our side. ;-)

At least know that MOST of us Christians appreciate atheists like yourself, and would never send you an email like that.
