ok i have a mice problem and i had a choice of a snap trap or poison, I chose a snap trap because poison causes them a painful stomach pain and blood swells up in there insides and i want the poor mouse to die in a more humane way. My question is do they feel it when the metal thing hits them?

no jokes please im serious.

thank u :]

and anyways i wouldnt want another dog to get bit. now animal testing is unjust to those mice who have to experience really cruel pain.

but im not going to get into that. :]

if it hits them in the head or neck no. unforunately i've caught a few by the tail or leg and they do feel that.

A clean neck hit is almost instantaneous, but a backbone or limb hit can make them suffer.

A good plan might be:

1. "Mouse proof' your home. Get rid of anything they may be using for food (pet food spills, etc.) and seal any openings you find. (Steel wool and caulk is good for small holes.)

2. Invest in several cheap live traps ( such as http://www.bestnest.com/bestnest/RTProduct.asp?SKU=VIC-M007 ) and snap traps. Use live traps where they can be checked and you do not wish to see the mouse- kitchens, bedrooms, etc. Use the snap traps in places where visibility is not such an issue- garage, basement, etc. Check all traps regularly.

3. Consider a predator. Cats and dogs are OK, but snakes are best overall if the problem is year round- they can more easily get into the tight spaces mice use. (If the problem is just when the weather cools off, then the other steps above should take care of things).

4. Get help. Free help is available at your local County Extension Service. If the problem is too big for you, try a good exteminator.

they have humane mouse traps. they crawl into them and a door closes behind them so they cant get out. then just take them far away from your house to an open field and turn them loose. if you want humane. personally i would choose a poison, as long as you have no pets that might eat the mice.

put some peanut butter on the trap, and make sure it's a quick trigger one and it's over in a snap pardon the pun. but it is quick and fast, i prefer the poison because they go off and die and you don't have to deal with the little corpses

well not at first if it doesn't kill them that is wrong i'm sorry i don't beleave in that, i dislike people that kill mice, catch them and release them far away from your home don't kill them they are gods creatures and deserve to live just like you do!

that actually depends on where it snap traps, if it traps its foot it will starve to death; on the neck however its headshot!

poison is the way, the other rats cannabilise the corpse so they also die. multi-kill!
