Ok, I live in Arkansas and I am getting married in a different county than the one I live in. Where do I need to do my marriage license, where I live or where I'm getting married?

Ask or go on the web and check. However, it is usually a State recognized rule. As long as you are not going to another state you are fine. Also you can get a license and have up to a year to use it in most states. Congrats

The one you are getting married in. The license applies to the place of the marriage.

In CA, it doesn't matter what county you're getting married in - you just have to make sure that your marriage license was issued by the state of CA. It's probably the same in your state, although if in doubt - just check.

P.S. I got the license in San Diego county, and we got married in Ventura county.

Some states allow you to get a license in any county and have it valid across the state. check http://www.weddingvendors.com/marriage-license-laws/united-states/arkansas/ it says licenses are valid across the state, and you can get married as soon as you get your license, so unless you're traveling it's make sense to get your license in the county you're getting married in.

Congrats & good luck!

You need to do some research into the country you are gettin married in because some aren't legal places in the states. I got married in belize and I had to get a wedding planner just to get a marriage license, then I had to have it mailed to me and take it down to the court house to get copied and registered. I looked into Italy and they are not recognized by the states so I would have gotten married there and then had to come home and get married here to get a recognized license. Do lots of research

I live in CT but got married in NY and had to get my marriage license in the NY county where I got married.

Just make a call to the local registrar's office of your town and ask them - I'm sure they'll be glad to help you!

Good luck and Congrats!

If I remember correctly, when I got married they were saying that whatever county you get married in, that is the county you have to get your marriage license in.

Go to about.com and look up wedding license Arkansas. I know in South Carolina the license is good for anywhere in the state, I don't think it's too presumptuous to say the same for Arkansas. Call up your probate judge and ask someone in that office, they do marriage licenses and would know.
