yeah Bizz but it sacrifices speed- it's just frusrating watching mediocre drivers just sail by him effortlessly...

Jr. is one of the best at driving the high side of the track and making it work.....just not so much this season. He's had a lot of success in the past with it though. The benefit of riding the high side is that it's not as hard on the car, making tires and such last longer.

Hey AMP: It doesn't always sacrifice speed though. In prior years, I've seen Jr. run the high side and pass folks who are running the low side. It's just not working out for him this year. So yes, he should stop running it as long as it's not working for him. But I think he feels that he can once again find that high line that will work for him.

...It's a gamble. If you have a decent car then it can pay off because you keep your momentum going.

...On the downside when someone is "rockin' on the top side" (as Rusty would put it) you leave the door open for someone to cut in front of you.

...In the previous Busch race Jr ran the top side also. He did well up there and probably would have won the race. The thing is is luck played out to where someone wrecked and spilled oil on the track. After Nascar officials cleaned the most part off Jr still had to spend a few laps "getting the grove back" on the top which cost him time.

...So like I said earlier, it is a gamble. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't. The DEI teams just didn't keep up with the changes of the track at the cup race.

You have to run whatever line the car handles the best in. If a car is handling excellent, you can run the bottom of the track and keep your right side tires on the bottom line. If the car is not handling the best, you take the high groove. We all know his cars have been crap this year. Maybe next year in a good car we will see him on the bottom of the track more.

I agree.
Some drivers can ride the high side and do really well, Kyle Busch sometimes, but it is so risky.
I personally am not a Jr. fan and for someone who is having such a crappy race season I would definatly stop riding the high side.

He did fine with it on Friday night, but it caught up with him on Saturday night!
He had his car set-up to run there and it didn't work out.
It depends on the track. On some tracks the high groove is not even an option.
Ole High Groove Harry got away with it for years!

It's the old Harry Gant line (not that any of you know who that is). If you can carry momentum all around the track it works real good. Gant used it to win 4 straight races in September 1991? (I think).

I noticed it also,again too.It seem's like it's Jrs, line around the track,riding up there.Is the boy scared? I don't understand
it.I'm not a FAN of his,but I'd like to see Jr. do better,I really
would,at least for his fan's.Maybe with a little more H.P.under
the hood next year,he can ride up there? But sooner or later,he's going to have to learn to plant that nose,on that car!!! Tighten-up June-bug !!!

Go where the car feels best, and runs the fastest...

That's how you determine where to run a car.. I give you this though, That top-line looked treacherous Saturday night compared to the low-line.

the reason he was running the high side was because his car didn't work on the bottom of the race track

Jr has always driven the high side, he is great at it..but it goes to show again...with crappy equipment you can not drive any where, with that car he had saturday night, heck I was suprised he did not totally wreck it.. Hopefully, once he gets to HMS, he will have equipment that he can drive high and low... Right now with crappy motors, and crappy handling cars, I'd be counting the days till I'm out of DEI....
