Give them a reason. Stand out. He flirts and smiles and listens to your stories but hasn't called to ask you out? Maybe he's not into you that way. You could be barking up the wrong tree, so to speak. On the other hand, smart guys know you don't date co-workers. That's too much like being married.

I dont wannabe mean but have u ever considered the possibility he might not like you in that way. People flirt for alot of reasons i flirt cause its fun and stops things being awkward in certain situations.
or he might be shy like u say and then you would not be able to make him ask you out. Besides have u ever considered the ramifications of dating a shy person. If he dated you he'd probably not like hanging with ur friends and might become dependent on you for social support and therefore you'd be with him all the time till u cant take it anymore and break up.
i hope i answered your question or at least gave u something to think about.

Just take it slow and let him come out of his shell (with a little assistance, of course, but don't overwhelm him). Shy guys have to dig deep within themselves to even smile or acknowledge a love interest. Some days, hold a quick meaningless conversation. Other days, make him miss your voice so much that he makes himself talk to you. This will allow him to grow some too. Good luck!

Guys find is very hard knowing what so say a lot of the time.
But make it easier for him.
Show him you love him.
and you want him close.... etc you know.
when he catches on.
he will most likly ask you if he likes you back :)
Good luck.

ask him out for lunch...coffee...something easy and nonthreatening. don't go for dinner and a movie right off. maybe stopping by for a drink after work...
"I'm going to O'henry's after work for a drink. i'd love company, would you like to join me?"
"I'm going out for lunch today, would you like to come with me?"
make it easy for him.

Just ask him out. If he likes you, he'll say yes.
