There are videos of police brutality taking place and nothing is done about it.Why?? They should be punished as well. It is ok to abuse a person that committed a crime nobody cares but when an officer gets shot then it's OMG a big stink!! Why is that? a person speeds and gets a ticket. Who tickets an officer when they speed?? Everyone has to obey the law, but why do the police break the law everyday and nothing gets done about it. then you have the commissioner covering them up???

I see a couple of different issues here and I hope that I can respond well enough for you!

First, you've made accusations yet don't make specific case other than the allegations themselves without fact.

Second, when an officer gets shot it becomes a big issue no differently than had the victim been anyone else. If there is a difference...it would be the mindset of officers who believe that if a suspect can shoot an officer...then everyone else would be in just as much danger as the suspect gives no regard to who he/she shoots!

Thirdly, police videos do NOT capture all the events that occur and without expert analysis are often misunderstood. I've viewed countless videos and most often those "gang piles" on a suspect are not what you perceive them to be. But, when you have a suspect that is potentially armed resisting arrest...I'd rather subdue the suspect as quickly as possible before giving them a chance to kill or injure someone.

Often times we see the police "speeding" yet just because they don't have their emergency lighting activated ... we assume there's no reason for the speeding. I can personally tell you that at times (especially during darkness) if I'm able to turn off those lights it helps me see better due to "flashback" from the emergency lights. Additionally, when attempting to get to an emergency, such as a burglary in progress, as long as no lives are in danger...I'd like to catch the suspect therefore I will attempt a "silent" approach and not broadcast my arrival.

Lastly, even when I do run with my emergency lighting half the time there are those who wait until the very last second to pull over allowing me to pass. This is a failure to yield to an emergency vehicle which adds precious seconds to those calls where lives ARE in danger.

Maybe you should try talking to an officer versus venting your anger openly and without a specific condition of circumstances.

because the powers that be, especially the republicans, dont care what happens to minority groups. I personally feel that police brutality doesn't get as much attention or is not prosecuted as aggresively until it starts to affect white people. NO IM NOT PULLING MY RACE CARD!!!

I used to live in NY and experience police brutality first hand. The police in NY curse at people for no reason and rude and intimidate people and profile people for no other reason than being black or latino.

IN ALL FAIRNESS.

Not all police are that way and neither are all Republicans. But as it stands now these are the people who are in power at the moment and frommy experience what I said at the outset seems to be the case.

Blacks have been getting beat up by police officers for quite a while now, especially with Guiliani, things are a little better with Bloomberg as mayor but overall I saw a huge difference once that white lady was pepper sprayed as well as when the white lady was beat up by that atlanta police officer at the airport.

I think it was awfull what those cops did to those women no matter what color they were its just that those cases get alot more attention than others when it involves a person of color.

Thats my opinion on the matter.

IF YOU HAVE PROOF TAKE IT TO THE GOVERNOR.

NOTHING BEING DONE ABOUT POLICE BRUTALITY?? HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO AN INVESTIGATION OR READ ABOUT MISCONDUCT? DO YOU REALLY THINK POLICE DO NOT HAVE TIME OFF WITHOUT PAY?

WHEN AN OFFICER GETS SHOT--HOW ABOUT WHEN YOU DEFEND YOURSELF AND SHOOT SOME PUNK-ESPECIALLY IF HE WAS OF A DIFFERENT RACE THEN THE OFFICER WHO SHOT HIM--PROFILING, RACIAL SHOOTING (HEADLINES PROTESTS ETC--A COP HE GETS BURIED AND THE FAMILY GETS A CHECK??)

WHOM POLICES THE POLICE--WE DO AND YES WE DO GIVE WARNINGS AND AFTER THE FIRST A COURTESY THEN WE TICKET??
YOU GET THE SAME WARNING AND WHEN YOU CONTINUE TO DO THE SAME THING OVER AGAIN WRONG I GUESS YOU AND THE OFFICER DID NOT LEARN--TICKET TIME?

IF THE COMMISSIONER IS REALLY COVERING THINGS UP THEN I WOULD LOOK HIGHER UP--ATTORNEY GENERAL, STATE INVESTIGATIONS INTO MORAL TURPITUDE, ETHICS AND CORRUPTION? YOU AS A CITIZEN HAVE THAT RIGHT TO COMPLAIN--BUT YOU BETTER BE ABLE TO BACK IT UP-OR YOU ARE ON THE HOT SEAT FOR MAKING FALSE ACCUSATIONS ON A PUBLIC RECORD.

Actually it's the other way around. The incidents of brutality ARE investigated and adjudicated. It is just that the outcome isn't always what the public wants. Sometimes juries acquit officers, which tells me that the media isn't reporting the WHOLE story (no surprise there). Actually, nationwide assaults against police are on the rise. Here are a few interesting articles. This stuff happens all of the time. No, it does NOT justify so-called bona-fide "brutality" but you can get the picture where the police are coming from and the stress they are constantly under.

Which videos of "brutality" are you referring to? The media hypes a lot of things as brutality, some of which are not. It looks over the top but is actually within the law and Department Policy.

If one of my officers drives in a manor that constitutes a hazard then I can write them up.

When brutality occurs or an officer breaks the law they are punished. The news is also full of stories about this. Brutality and other broken laws are not tolerated by the Police.

Being a police officer is one of the most stressful jobs in this country. Instances of alleged brutality are very isolated. What you don't mention is the the abuse they take on a daily basis. No I don't agree with some aspects of what they are permitted to do, but that is law enforcement as this country accepts it.

God-given peace has a transforming effect. Jehovah promises: “No more will violence be heard in your land, despoiling or breakdown within your boundaries. And you will certainly call your own walls Salvation and your gates Praise.” (Isaiah 60:18) How true! Even opposers admit that peacefulness is an outstanding mark of true Christians. (Micah 4:3) This peace with God and among Jehovah’s Witnesses themselves makes each Christian meeting place a refreshing oasis in a violent world. (1 Peter 2:17) It is a foretaste of the abundance of peace that will exist when all earth’s inhabitants will be “persons taught by Jehovah.”—Isaiah 11:9; 54:13.

It's not allowed. True cases of excessive force are investigated and handled either in court or at an administrative level. The problem with the cases you are talking about is two-fold. First, you have no clue what the laws are and how they relate to use of force. Second, you only see a two minute video, usually the last two minutes, of a 15 minutes incident. You have no clue what led up to what happened.

Do you see the police brutality on UTBUBE ? Local news media and articles.. Read the family secrets news on the top cop of Chicago.

Citizens are outraged and are organizing to take an approach similar to MADD did to change laws. Form a group in your organization and try to get scheduled meetings to figure out solutions.

CACC is the group we are forming Citizen against Corrupt Cops . Name your organization whatever you want , but citizens must not allow this behavior to go unchecked.

The police behavior has gone unchallenged for a long time . Yes, I belieive there are some good officers and I can tell you I would not do the job they do for any amount of money.

The issue is the corruptness . There are many lousy cops and I'd say that number is growing and the behavior is coming out into the open with the use of technology. I suspect this has been going on for years and has only been captured due to increased knowledge of camcorders and cell phone video .

Radio SHack / Best Buy and those electronic stores sells a camcorder with sound / video unit for less than 100.00 . you have sd card 2 hours. i suggest every citizen purchase one and mount it in the car . capture every single encounter with the police . we have to make this a virtual world for security. get proof and solid evidence. yes, we'll have to take a lot of beatings until we see change but change will come! if we do nothing , the beatings and behavior will get worse

start gathering evidence / making a better case .

citizens must upgrade our expectations and integrity of police. CITIZENS WILL NOT BE ABUSED ! we refuse to fund this or to tolerate this injustice .

Department of Justice for the U.S. is who the police report up to. Citizens need to gather evidence and demand that the DOJ start infiltrating cop organizations undercover and get the bad cops fired / prisoned.

We need tougher laws for abusing a citizen. It is not considered serious enough and police are not prosecuted .

You must escalate to the highest office . Each office covers for the other office. Cops are like organized crime. It is hard to break it up .

I almost think that the cop organization should ALL BE FIRED . Start new and bring in some civilian contractors with security training. Oursource like CIA.

organize in yor community and one citizen won't matter but there is power in groups!

police behavior is getting more aggressive. What's interesting is when they wrongly kill someone they get away with it....no punishment whatsoever. For example, take the recent case where 7 guards at a boot camp beat up a 14 year old, and autopsy report from one guy says he died of a disorder. Another autopsy revealed that the kid died from the beating and dehydration. The jury chose to go along with the "death due to a blood disorder" story and excuse the 7 guards from beating the kid. Come on people!!!! The blood disorder that the kid had, rarely kills the person that has it!!!

I bet the guards will beat up another kid in the future.
