I can't keep comparing camera specs. I have to make this purchase TODAY. Should I get the Nikon d40x or the Canon XTi. You don't have to elaborate a whole lot. If you can just give me a good one sentence response, I'll appreciate it. These two (entry level DSLR) models are the only ones in my price range that seem to be favored by most. If you have an alternative to these in the same price range, let me know. Just the bottom line answer would be appreciated. I'm not a pro photographer, although I do sell some of my prints.

In the past have you owned a Canon or Nikon ? I have been a Canon user for over 30 years and I never experienced any problems what so ever. Not to long ago I though I'd try making a switch to a Nikon so I com paired the D40 Nikon to Canon's XT (both 8MP). Then it was the 10MP DSLRs by Nikon with there D40x Vs. Canon XTi and, in both cases I leaned toward the Canon and the one I purchased was the Canon XTI. I love my new Canon DSLR, I got a Tamron 18-250 f/3.5 Macro zoom lens with it and later got a Canon 50mm f/1.4 for Portrait work.

Professionals & Amitures alike use both the Nikon and Canon it just comes down to a personal preference.

Go to the store and hold both cameras in your hand. The one that fits better in your hands and feels most comfortable is the one you should get.

I personally prefer Nikons, but others feel the same way about Canons. So, some will say get the Nikon, and some will say get the Canon. You should find out for yourself which one is best for you. And to do that, do the above.
