from time to time i experience what i think is sleep paralysis, but i'm not sure if thats what it is. i just had one today, i'll explain.
i was napping on the couch this morning. suddenly i became aware that i was sleeping on the couch, even what position i was in, etc. tried to move but couldnt, so i kept telling myself it'll be over soon, it'll be over soon. after few min started dreaming wierd dream that my parents were there and my friend and they were all worried about me cuz of what i just went through. i was kinda glad for all the attentioncuz i hate it when i get sleep paralysis.
but as dreams go, some things about my dream didnt make any sense and thats when i realized i was still sleeping, and thats when the scary part started. i tried to wake up again, couldnt move. i tried to tell myself it would be over soon and it wasnt real, but i started hearing a noise that i became afraid of. i thought it was the refrigerator at 1st but it came close to me and it was a little demon

here's the part i dont understand. a minute later, it seemed, the phone rang, and i was able to immediately wake up and answer the phone, which was right next to me.
was this sleep paralysis or something else? please help

What you are describing has an explanation. At that stage of light sleep you physically can't move. Some people dream that they are abducted by aliens in this stage of sleep. I hope what I have attached helps you understand sleep and dreams.

Sleep paralysis is usually followed by a phenominon called astral projection. What you are experiancing is quite natural, your astral body just built up enough juice and was trying to get out. There are many books on the market about the subject I would check them out. Get a few as some seem to go around the point. As for the demon people dont die from little demons or sleep paralysis I would take that with salt. You could just devolope yourself and beat this demon.

I've had it explained to me that sleep paralysis is being aware of an out of body experience. It doesn't have to be a bad thing or scary. You just need to train yourself to control it. Try doing some research on "Lucid dreaming". You could be on the verge of a great talent. With practice and patients you could "travel" anywhere and have amazing adventures!!

Good luck!

When you sleep your body is paralized in a sense. Think about how much you would move if it wasn't! Your brain sends messages to your muscles to keep them relaxed and generally inhibit any movement. Occationally though, your body will not end the paralysis before you wake up and you're completely conscious again.
Don't worry, it happens to everyone!

That's really scary. I've had problems with not being able to breathe when I sleep. They went away. Just remind yourself as long as you can breathe you are ok.
