He preaches and teaches Christ without the Cross. How many times have you heard him speak of our need for a saviour?
It is not the Gospel.
Christ didn't preach a prosperity message or tells us that our purpose in this world was to be filled with "self"-esteem.
We are told to beware of ANY man who teaches a different Gospel than the one taught by Christ and His apostles even if it "feels" good. For the heart is deceitful above all things.

I think he preaches mainly on the Love of God and positive confession of God's word.
However,I think the congregation needs more than this.
Not only do we need to really understand the love of God,but we also need to know that God Is also a God of Judgment too.
As any earthly judge would do having the ability to pass sentence for the consequence fitting the crime.
Our God In heaven will pass judgment as well.
I'm not saying Joel Osteen Is a bad preacher or that he's not a man of God. But there Is more to It than this.
Yes we should know about the love of God. But you have to have balance In ALL areas of preaching /teaching the word of God. Hell Is a real place whether people believe It or not.
People need to be told the whole truth. I know he thinks that by preaching about the love of God that you will fullfill what Is required according to the Bible,In everything you do ...Do It as unto the Lord and with the love of the Lord.

Our Lord did not even have a place to rest His head. He was not a rich man. He was a simple person who was not even good looking in face or form.. Yet He went about not trying to win people's affection He just shared Who He was... The Bread of life.. the Living Water.. the Resurrection and the Life.. the Life Giving One... The Vine... The Shepherd and so much more.
Many people will come in the Lord's name preaching their own flavour of the Gospel and in the process build a name for themselves.
In the end dear.. any gospel should lead us in one direction.. " deny the self.. take up the cross and follow Jesus"

He's just another false teacher preaching a prosperity feel good gospel.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 2 Tim. 4:3-4

Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man,
But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel. Prov. 20:17

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. 2 Cor. 11:13-15

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 Pet. 2:1

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. Gal. 1:6-9

Joe Osteen is not preaching the true gospel He is preaching the prosperity gospel. There is danger when you preach christianity without the cross of Christ. His preachings seem to be success oriented not Christ oriented. The reason why his church has such a large following is because he is telling his congregants what they want to hear.

Joel is a man of God, but he is only for a new believer. He preaches the love message, which is necessary , of how God loves us and we love Him, BUT, that is where it ends. PPL want to hear what God says about how much He loves them, but they dont want to hear the rest of the message of what we are to do once we love God and committ our lives to Him. What does it mean? What does God requires of us? WHy does He require thing of us.??? PPL so rarely want to ask those questions, let alone to hear them. Joel is good to preach about Gods love, but the full message of the rest of the Bible is rarely ever touched on. I am sure He could bring many in to the salvation message of Gods love, but once tehre, they would need deeper meaning to hold on to the prize of salvaiton that God gives them. The Bible is also about hell and how to avoid going there. God actually speaks about Hell more than Heaven, wonder why?? PPL arent comfortable hearing about hell or that they will be lost if they dont obey, yet God wrote all about it. If we dont love God enough to obey Him and count it all as joy, we wont be saved anyhow. BEing a victorious Christian, means being an overcomer thru Christ, and the Bible has a lot about all of that. BUt, we have to hear it all. Those fire and brimstone preachers sometimes go too far at times, YET they are teaching more of the truths, the warning about hell. IT isnt aboug GOd speaking what we want to hear, its what we need to hear. Takes usually a full gospel preacher to do that.
Listen to Creflo Dollar, TD Jakes, Charles Capps, Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copleland, Perry Stone, Paula White, Mike Murdock, and so many more. WE need to be told all truth, and not just what our itchy little ears think we want to hear.
Would you let a kid head up to play on a freeway without warning? Of course not. Preachers that speak truth will speak all of the truth , be it to exhort God or warn of the impending destruction when you wont obey God. Doesnt matter if ppl want to hear it or not. Still needs to be taught.
As someone is on the way to hell, they cant say< WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME GOD?? HE is trying, not His fault, if only a few will hear Him. Read the Bible yourself, pray, and see what God reveals to you , PPL. Then you will know.
God bles s you for the question. Lets dont judge Joel Osteen. He means well, but we need more than that. We need to know about Jesus and His saving love , mercy and grace, and what grace does not cover, and how to avoid the pits of hell. We need it all, thats why God wrote it all. amen

Why does everyone have to try and shoot holes in someone who tries to make people happy...

I must admit - I got a really good feeling from this guy watching him on 60 minutes. I'd have to listen to more of what he has to say in order to really understand his position on things, but he certainly seems sincere.

The main point is that people's lives are being made better. That's the bottom line.

Well I wouldn't be surprised that he teaches that but most of his sermons have more to do with psychology then with Scripture. If you have ever listened to his sermons many times he will quote only single sentence of Scripture to base his entire Sermon on.

Another problem I have with his teaching is that he says his goal is to just make people "feel good" before they leave. I think if we are truly preaching the Bible that people will not always have a "feel good" experience.

Eternity is far longer than life. I would much prefer being told the whole truth now and have some discomfort adapting myself to God's ways, than to be told what will make me feel happy now at the expense of my eternal quality of life.
