This is like a back up for ROTC. Once you graduate from basic, stll apply for ROTC scholarship. You might even consider going active duty as soon as you get back from basic. Show the ROTC scholarship that you are serious in becoming a Army Soldier. Once you get into ROTC and graduate your 4th year of college, you will be a 2LT.

If you're in the army full time (as an enlisted man) you may take classes depending on where you are- you may even take correspondence courses. However ROTC is a program offered on campuses at regular colleges and universities basically for full time students. So you'd have to wait until you get out of the army, get your GI bill, enroll in college and then ROTC. Of course you might apply for Officers School while in the army. That option is possible and you would keep all you military privileges

Depending on your MOS (Your job), it can be very easy or very difficult to go to school. While ROTC will probably be the hardest road to travel, I would recommend on first just getting your degree that the military will recognize for a commission. Then drop your paperwork to go to Officer Candidate School (OCS). Talk with your career guidance counselors and your commander and express your interest in earning your commission. There are several programs depending on the branch you serve in that allow you to earn your commission while active duty. Most of them require that you have so many credit hours already towards a degree.

You should graduate college and then join if your goal is to be an officer. Otherwise you could just get deployed; college would have to wait until later.

Are you joining active, guard or reserve? Either way you can be deployed. Make a plan but you have to be flexable because if you asked to deploy you have to go.
