My mother is a devout christian and also has a lot of common-sense. Unfortunately she has a gaping blind spot between them.

Yes I can. You don't give an example of what you term common sense so it is a bit hard to answer. I find that the tenants of my religion are common sense. Love your fellow man. Learn to forgive, that doesn't mean you have to let someone hurt you every day..you can kick the dust from your feet and move on. Do not judge the other fellow, look only to your own behaviour.
God said let their be light..and this Universe began ..with a Big Bang.
Adam and Eve were the mother and father of all..Mitochondrial DNA shows we all came from a common ancestry..What were their names I don't know. but regardless of race..we are all from the same stock. No group is better than another, for we are all brothers and sisters.
I could rant for a long time..If you have a particular question feel free to email me!

when you define "common" and look around at the world...do you really think that's the kind of "sense" we should be going on? Just as when you begin to realize what the term "normal" actually means. Do you think we should adhere to the understandings and behaviors which have become the "norm?" History itself proves that there where a lot of things deemed as "normal" or as "common sense" by humans that centuries later we have considered inhumane and even barbaric, also irrational. So, in essence, we see that things believed to be "common sense"change as people's understandings and OPINIONS change. The only one constant that NEVER changes is God.

Depends on the belief. Some of the more fundamentist who care little for integrating facts and beliefs into an intelectually satisfying whole of logical necessity must suspend common sense.

it rather is an thrilling question - have a megastar! although, I do could %. you up on the word 'advertising'. which would be useful to coach to a pair particular sects/cults, even though it is not actual of e.g. mainstream Judaism, it quite is what i be attentive to greater approximately. in any case, that aside - I believe you that swallowing the full component, hook, line and sinker, of any particular faith community, is especially complicated for many folk in the event that they're thinking types. by potential of the time I switched over to Judaism, i became into especially sparkling approximately my ideals, and between the justifications I switched over became into that a great number of Judaism spoke directly to those ideals. It became into additionally necessary to me that my conversion did no longer require me to affix to a creed interior the way Christianity does. My thought of G-d is amazingly diverse from mainstream notions, and at the same time as I settle for extremely a great number of the widely familiar practice of Judaism, i do no longer shop prevalent Kashrut (nutritional rules), i do no longer word the sabbath as thoroughly as many Jews could do, and so on. the component is, this rather isn't a extensive situation interior uk Reform Judaism (it quite is all i will talk for). i'm dedicated to my community, I act Jewish interior the strategies that count and so on and so on (no element itemizing it alright here). If Judaism had required of me a assertion of concept in a definite form of deity, or required me to have faith 3 impossible issues till now breakfast, i does not have become a member. even though it did no longer, and the spirit of this is a few thing that makes my life infinitely richer. right this moment is Purim - if i became right into a strict Jew, i could be on the synagogue, yet as a replace I made hamantashen (gorgeously tasty classic bakes), having examine the e book of Esther final evening, and that i'm thinking approximately all forms of issues in terms of that. The day has a sense to it that concerns. no longer something greater is dictated to me. So i don't sense like a hypocrite.

Yes. I believe God gave us reasoning and common sense for a purpose and tells us to question things we hear, even from the Bible, with our own minds. Everything should line up if you think about it hard enough.

Common sense is really neither - it in not really common nor is it sense. Basically it is non-formalized, experiential learning and as such it could easily support or not support religion.
