I’m currently a senior at my university and I’m 2 semesters away from graduating with a bachelor’s degree in international studies. I would like to attend law school after graduation, however due to the financial inability I would no be able to make it.
So, I’m looking into enlisting in the army in order to take advantage of the student loan repayment and the money available for further education (GI Bill). My concern is that I’m not sure whether I could attend law school once enlisted in the army or if I would have to wait until my contract service agreement finishes?
Also would it be better to do ROTC?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Why wouldnt you go? If the government can take care of your law or even pay for your loans, why wouldnt you consider it? You can use your MGIB to further your education and finish school.

ok,,,I am not a subject matter expert on this but I know a few details. First, if you graduate without completing ROTC, then you would enlist in the Army with an OCS contract. After Basic Training, you go to OCS and then commision. At that time you could request the Law School program, sorry I don't know the term for the program. If you had went the ROTC route, before graduating you would have requested the Law School program. You would be locked into a contract with the Army to be a 2LT, weather the Law School program was approved or not. So it is a gamble. again, I dont know the specifics or the program's name, but a friend who graduated and commisioned with me had applied and found out 2 weeks before we graduated that it was denied. he is now a transportation officer on active duty. Hope this helped more than it confused.

Also, you either get loan repayment or the GI Bill. Not both, and I believe that if you enlist with an OCS contract, you can't get the GI Bill, not 100% sure......

Your perfect wager is likely to pass to regulation college after your enlistment, then be conscious to JAG once you finished regulation college and pass the bar exam. At one time the military had a application the position the military might want to deliver persons to regulation college, and they could then grow to be a member of JAG. although, that application become in basic terms open to officials, no longer enlisted workers. i'm no longer particular if there is an same application lately. Why do not you pass see someone contained in the submit education middle. a minimum of, you may manage to take the LSAT for *free*.

That would be a good question to ask of a recruiter because with your college degree, you can go for Officer Candidate School ( a better pay package indeed than just enlisting). Also some officers sometimes find ways to get that time off to go to grad school. (I'm not sure how it works but I know it's been done). ROTC is also a good option.
