Yep, it's true, but of course the Atheist will say no (obviously) and give a bunch of (pseudo) answers with fabricated evidences to say otherwise.

Not a chance. If you look at the current prison population it is a nice indicator of the atheist mentality of right and wrong. In the US, about 15% of the population is atheist/agnostic, yet they make up less than 1% of the prison population. How many atheists are there on death row? less than .001%

I will try to find the links and add them in a minute.

No-one denies that atheists have killed. However, very few atheists (if any) have killed because they felt their lack of belief in god(s) forced them to go out and kill.

On the other hand, a large number of theists feel the are commanded by their respective deity to kill for various reasons, generally conversion by the sword.

In short, if you are going to compare the number of deaths, you need to consider the motive. "They believe in god" will be very low on the list of motives, "they don't believe in the RIGHT god" will be much higher.

Both Believers and Non - Believers have killed many people, and to say no one killed in the name of Atheism is not true. Just look at what's happening with the monks in China right now. They aren't being killed and abused for their fashion sense, and anyone who thinks the Jews fled Russia and Germany just because they were envied for their success, you're fooling yourself. I'd say the number is probably close to being even.

There's no objective way to answer your question, because there's no objective recording system that measures "atrocities."

However, what is certain is that while a number of genocidal acts have been committed by individuals who were atheists, the overall history of butchery in the name of religion is hard to ignore. Remember that most people in human history have been religious, not atheistic, so statistically it would be improbably if atheists had committed the preponderance of genocidal "atrocities."

Suffice it to say this: today in the world, right now, religious hatred is the number one cause of brutality and murder. Atheism doesn't even rate. Are you worried about radical partisans of Christopher Hitchens blowing up any planes you might fly on, or about the US president bombing villages in the Middle East because of his atheistic views?

No. Let's be frank: religion motivates most of the most barbaric acts of war, terrorism, genocide, murder, oppression, and cruelty in the world today. No doubt about that.

That website is so full of lies, and mistruths...

He would rationalize that claim by saying that all the people who committed such atrocities were not real Christians, and thus they were atheists.
That site is so full of misinformation, I can't even be entertained by it. It's stupid.

pol pot and stalin were atheists, this is true. they did not, however kill in the name of their non-belief, they did so in the name of politics and personal power. so to answer your question, no...atheists have nothing on those that have commited atrocity in the name of their god.

Nope, it all pales to those atrocities that have been committed in the name of various religions.

No, that is just another outrageous lie believers tell to try to discredit anyone who does not share their groundless beliefs. It badly violates several Bible rules to say such things, but many believers are hypocrites. How about Moses' commandment not to bear false witness, Jesus' Golden Rule, etc.?

These figures are skewed because this moron doesn't count war - the main cause of religious murder.

Might as well say that if we discount the number of people in prisons that there are almost no criminals.
