For any one who hasn't already seen it here's the link,
http://www.findagrave.com/
it's an excellent site, my ggg/ gran and gg/grandad are both buried in Utah, without this site and the brilliant volunteers I would never have seen their grave's.
I'm in the UK and I visit my mum and dads grave once a fortnight. I always go to the grave on Christmas day and put their flowers there and a Christmas card as well, it just makes me feel better.

Sure as often as I can to tell you the truth, and always on St.Andrews Day for grandpa and his sip of Scottish Whiskey,
As for find a grave it can be useful for certian purposes I have found it a very helpful site for finding ancestors who are not in my area of the united states, plus you sometimes run across researchers who are also researching same family lines or have more informaton on others lines that you are working on so yeah its good just look pass the promotional adds and get into the search areas and I think you will be surprised at the resource.

Just went to that site for the first time. The thing that hit me was that I had 4 pop-ups blocked and the first thing I saw was plugs for their coffee mugs and bumber stickers.
Certainly could be legitimate. But looks like (from their FAQ) that most stuff is from contributors (which isn't bad) though I would suspect a bit of cemetery project information may have filtered in.
Just be careful until you get a good feel for the type of site AND the type of information is it providing.
Addendum: Saw from a trusted person that www.findagrave.com is a legit, good site - so in regards to my earlier writing above - NEVER MIND!

I visit occasionally to check that the headstone is in good repair. As a genealogist, I would recommend locating grave sites of your ancestors at least once. Different cultures put different information on the headstones. Some attach a picture of the deceased, when they were middle-aged. For some of my husband's family, the headstone picture is the only one we have.

Visiting cemeteries have become part of following our family history. We have gone to many cemeteries and actually taken photos of the the tombstones. Mostly for dates - birth and death. Some for pics that are on the stones.
We did come across something sort of funny on one. A family member from the 1700 had his assasine's name on his stone. It actually had the guys name - birth and death date - then Assasinated by: and the persons name of who killed him.
Now thats history...

nicely, in case you in no way went then definite i'd evaluate that out of the traditional. despite the fact that, i do no longer flow to my relatives's grave web sites purchase approximately each 6mos or so. unlike many different individuals, i do no longer sense any form of connection to the positioning itself. i think nearer to my deceased dad and mom when I hear a track they enjoyed or see a sundown like the only my mom noted to me as quickly as we've been on vaca or something like that. desire this helped! Have a powerful one!

Visiting graves is more about honoring the past lives of those you love, remembering their legacy no matter what it is and keeping a hold on the present life you have to remind you to live each day to the fullest as your ancestors would have wanted you to.

I was taken to my great grandmother's grave, but only because my family went and I had be with them. I personally think it's meaningless to visit graves because the dead peoples' souls are not there anymore.

sounds cool. I don't usually go to the graves. I know they are not there. And if there was something you should of done or said before they died... you have to live with that...
