Forget all of the homeopathic remedies. You need to see an ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctor NOW! Forget the lemon, tea, lay down, don't talk, don't whisper (actually whispering causes more damage), ALL OF THAT. If you don't have the ability to talk for days as a whispe, and you are still having issues ....this is worse than some light laryngitis. Have an ENT LOOK at your vocal chords to make sure there is no swelling and no nodes on your chords. Also, if it is extreme sinus drainage or a sinus infection, you may need antibiotics to clear it up. NEVER use any quick remedies hoping it will clear up any strain or damage. It is like putting a bandaid on a deep wound. It will not help in the long run. So find an ENT and get checked out. Also, if you haven't already, hire a good voice teacher to keep you from further damage. Good voice teachers understand the physiological approaches behind healthy and unhealthy singing. They can save you a further visit to the doctor in the long run. If you already have one good for you, but make sure they are legitimate. Good luck and PLEASE go see that ENT NOW or else you might find yourself with permanent damage in the end.

Please avoid speaking at all. Write notes instead. Be aware that whispering puts greater strain on the vocal cords then normal speaking! Inhaling warm air from a bowl or shower and drinking warm liquids (no alcohol) can help. Avoid any smoking because it will cause more irritation. Drinking a mixer of warm water, honey, and lemon will help soothe the throat.
The most important thing is do not talk at all. Each time you try to speak it irritates your throat. I am sorry this happened to you. It is very upsetting when we lose our voice and scary because we wonder if we will ever get it back the way it was. It will come back but you have to baby it for a while.

Being quiet is about all you can do. Then, take some voice lessons so you can learn to strengthen your voice and learn how to keep from abusing it.
Laryngitis is just your body's way of telling you to shut up.
