By facing it. Whenever someone has a obstacle or a major problem on his way, he flees to God asking for immediate help. This is weakness of man. On the contrary, we should grasp the fact that all these hurdles in our life have been sent to us only and The One Above wants to see how much faith we have in Him and accept that all this is just passing and everything wil be alright in the end. Everything is just a test and very few succeed in it. Determination, a powerful will and an utmost positive attitude have a great helping hand in overcoming evil.
Remember: All bad happening to us has been created by us in this very birth or previous lifetimes and we are to reap the fruits and we can change the course of our destiny by doing good only. Those who tread on the path of absolute goodness experience very harsh things in life for sure, but the final fruits are always very sweet. The most beautiful rose also has got thorns around it!

Evil can be overcome by understanding what it means to be evil, the definition we give for evil also needs to be considered. Any act that takes away the right of the other, be it human, an animal or a flower can be an evil act. An act that takes away its rightful expression can be considered evil.
If we understand this within ourselves and become aware, it is easy to walk over evil. Awareness is the biggest strength because it grows from inside of you, it is something learned consciously, and repeated over a period of time, to the point that over comming evil becomes a reflex. it is effortless, we just remain good and only truth lives within us. When we train our minds to rules of the world and start seeing life based on these rules our reference point of the world remains rules that have no meaning to the present world, thats when we become judgemental and our judgements can itself become evil. A block to see the truth. And when we see through these lenses that we believe to be true (when infact they are not) we become blind hence choose to live in the dark. And darkness only takes you to the door of evil because your cannot see, feel or hear.

You haven't defined your concept of evil in your question. Depending on your beliefs, evil can be found in different forms. It has always existed and always will. You can't overcome it completely, only one moment at a time, within your personal sphere of influence (those you come in contact with). You do what you believe is "good" to counteract it, whether that is helping people, or animals, or the environment, etc. There are many possibilities - it depends on you.

When there is a war, a disruption, people stay out of it. One must admit it is the best thing to do. But when something happens, a family member is taken, spite builds up. Revenge is one thing to do, but you can also ask them. But soon revenge overwhelms the spirit, and all it wants is to get the thing back. In doing so, one can gain along with others, but it can result in catastrophe. And when that happens anger overwhelms the soul until the damage has been paid. One must be calm, and must make moves wisely to triumph over the evil that lies within every soul. Only the strongest souls can be committed to doing something until it is does. But once something had happened it cannot be taken back; a strike will leave a strain forever. Even if the relationship develops, the stain shall remain, and once another thing of such thing happens the thin fabric that holds the relation shall be shattered.

evil is a human concept. people can do things which upset others, but it isn't an evil act. to have a certain evil there would need to be some kind of universality to such an act in order for it to be evil. however everyones moral concepts differ, due to location, their society, upbringing, personal attitudes.
there are consequences to negative actions yes, but not due to morality, but due to our culture.
for example to kill is not evil, but people get protective over their friends and family and through that protection you would get punished, in the animal kingdom its often being chased away or fought, in human culture years ago there was the death penalty, and now there is prison and the court systems.

Evil has different definitions.
I think the best way is to follow your reason and heart and understand that there are certain morals that are set up by society that are universal and best for mankind.
If you get the inclination to ignore any of these 'rules' you should reason through the consequences.
There will always be people who ignore morality, some of them are criminals, some of them are politicians and others are leaders of religions and countries. As a civilized society, we have a duty to each other to make sure their power and freedom is taken away.

when we buy a machine from the market, we get along a manual to run that machine. that manual tells us the do's and the don'ts inorder to get the best in terms of the performance of the machine. while using it we take special care to see that we avoid the don'ts. Things are not very different for this complicated machine called MAN. if he does not use the manual of guidance given to him by LORD and does not take care to observe the do's and don'ts efficiently, he will invite trouble. satan does not have any power over man as such but he i able to aggravate even the slightest of weaknesses of a person. by weaknesses i mean, weakness of faith and connection with the LORD. faith is the only means to keep away evil otherwise. A faithless person leaves many doors open for the devil to enter.

Which Evil?
If it refers to the evil one, cling to the Conqueror, Jesus.
If it refers to moral evil, practice its opposite, the moral good.
If it refers to physical evil, it depends on what kind of physical evil.
If the physical evil can be controlled, Control it
If it cannot be controlled, go to God.
There is no evil that God cannot overcome. He is all-good.
