Christ, as He said in Matthe 5:17., came to fulfill prophesies. In fact, the reason why He is the only possible Messiah/Christ was the extent to which Jesus, and none other, did fulfill the prophesies, especially the one in Daniel 9 that set the time frame by which it would happen-the Fall of the Second Temple of Jerusalem, which occurred 40 years after the Resurrection.

Among the prophesies, Isaiah 53 speaks of one who is above sin, and made to bear for the sins of others. Clearly, Isaiah wrote, this one would be "a man of sorrows," so the rabbinic Jews' belief that it is about Israel makes no sense...neither does the fact that Israel, the person-Jacob-did commit sin, and Israel, the people, were also chastised by G-D for the sins they committed.

But, in Isaiah 53, it says that

7 He was oppressed, though he humbled himself and opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before her shearers is dumb; yea, he opened not his mouth.
8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away, and with his generation who did reason? for he was cut off out of the land of the living, for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due.
9 And they made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich his tomb; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.'
10 Yet it pleased HaShem to crush him by disease; to see if his soul would offer itself in restitution, that he might see his seed, prolong his days, and that the purpose of HaShem might prosper by his hand:
11 Of the travail of his soul he shall see to the full, even My servant, who by his knowledge did justify the Righteous One to the many, and their iniquities he did bear.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion among the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the mighty; because he bared his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

So, Jesus had to die in order to fulfill this prophesy which said He was led to slaughter, saying nothing, and as a result, G-D came to Comfort us, and Jesus "made intercession" (Isaiah 53:12) for mortal man who was among the transgressors. To make intercession means to be the middle man, so "the way to the Father is through the Son" is from the book of the Prophesies of the Jews, not merely from the New Testament. All are meant to believe this.

The Comforter, called the Counselor in NIV, the one who would come to comfort us for the death upon the Cross for our sins, is the Holy Spirit that is to dwell inside of us.

Jhn 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
Jhn 14:2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
Jhn 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Jhn 14:4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Jhn 14:5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jhn 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jhn 14:7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Jhn 14:8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Jhn 14:9 Jesus answered: “Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Jhn 14:10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
Jhn 14:11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
Jhn 14:12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
Jhn 14:13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
Jhn 14:14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jhn 14:15 “If you love me, you will obey what I command.
Jhn 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever–
Jhn 14:17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
Jhn 14:18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Jhn 14:19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.
Jhn 14:20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
Jhn 14:21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”
Jhn 14:22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
Jhn 14:23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
Jhn 14:24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
Jhn 14:25 “All this I have spoken while still with you.
Jhn 14:26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Jhn 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Jhn 14:28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
Jhn 14:29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.
Jhn 14:30 I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me,
Jhn 14:31 but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.“Come now; let us leave

If one looks at Ezekiel 34 (a very long passage), it speaks of how G-D would come down to Earth to do certain things, and He would bring His servant David...the same servant discussed in Isaiah 53-Jesus.
If one reads where G-D says to Moses, in Exodus 33:20
"But,' he said, 'you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.' ,"
It is easy to see why G-D would not show His face, but come as a mortal man, so we could see a face...the face of the Son who was the embodiment of G-D as we moved from the world of the flesh to the world of the Spirit...It was what was below the covering of skin and mortal body where G-D was to be found...in the words He spoke, in the actions He made, in the meanings of His existence.
And, when His time came to leave us, He left behind His teachings. Anyone who has gone to school, any grade, may not ever see their favorite teacher again, but that teacher and what that teacher taught went beyond what was in the books or on the blackboard...and stayed with us, and we teach others what we learned, and they teach others what we taught based on what our favorite teacher taught us, and so on, for years to come... just as what Jesus taught when He passed from us has been taught, and those who have the Spirit within them will teach and just by faith we will know...because Jesus no longer walks BESIDE US, but His Spirit, the Spirit of G-D dwells within those of Us who believe in what He lived for and what He died for.

The comforter is the Holy Spirit. If Jesus didn't leave then the Holy Spirit could not come. God said in the book of Joel that in the last days He would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh. Jesus leaving and the advent and indwelling (living within believers) of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts was to fulfill this scripture. Hope this helps.

Jesus meant that. In order for the comforter to come , he had to leave us so we could receive power, from the Father and the Comforter is the Holy Spirit of God. Do you remember after the crucifiction. that the disciple, were all scared, they were left alone with- out Jesus to look after them, and jesus told them to watch and wait for the comforter to give the m power and strenght, so they could teach the gospel . this was a desireand convenient and advantage , circumstances , that Jesus choice to do for all man kind and his Father, granted Him this request, His Spitit to keep us and guide us and help us and protect us from harm and danger, do you ever recall that you will say ia'm going this way or that way; then all in a sunding you c hanged your mind and said no i rather go this way, that voicethat you heard inside of you is God Holy, Spiritwashing over you for ever. most of the time i listens to this voice and each time i do , i feel a n overwhelming emoction then i know, that ia'm not alone. The Bible tells us that a Comforter is like a doctor a lawyer a teacher a father a judge and a keeper of our body mind though and soul, So i a'm Thankful forour Comforter. God bless!

He explained it Himself where you read that. He said He had to go, so the Holy Spirit could come. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter.
Have you ever worried about something, and then a realization, or thought came into your mind that helped you better understand the situation? That was the Holy Spirit comforting you. As God is for everyone. Not just those who think they are better than others.

The Comforter is the Holy Spirit. He is the third person of the Trinity. The Greek word parakletos also has the meaning of helper, supporter, advocate, someone who sits beside you in court. http://www.keyway.ca/htm2001/20010727.htm
It was necessary for Jesus to ascend to Heaven for the Holy Spirit to come to earth to empower His people. He had preached and performed miracles in the power of the Holy Spirit and that same Spirit came at Pentecost to dwell within believers and empower them to serve God in a way which would not have been possible in their own strength. That is why it was for the best that He should go away from them. But in leaving them He told them "Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." And indeed, He is.

nonetheless I allow you to comprehend the reality; that is expedient for you that i pass away: for if i pass no longer away, the Comforter received't come unto you; yet when I go away, i will deliver him unto you. King James Bible John 16:7 situations of end are or can say have arrived For the “go away” is starting to be understanding ahead and through “him” will be comprehend of all, that is expedient of the former to grow to be the recent. The go away is Jesus in what's in aspects understanding truth become/is Father and the Son, the union of one God, contained in the daddy on my own. The Com-citadel-er is a be save of truth as even in this time, as become before the flood contained in the Noah days, mercies of God has no longer left mankind on my own, in comfortless; in those very last days to be one with Him as ending, the decision as that is everywhere to help. the international is composed of end and because the message speaks forth the recent to behold. As unity subdues in Him in him begetting contained in the Lord. Carey

We see in the Book of 1 Corinthians 15:45 that Christ.. as the Last Adam.. became a Life Giving Spirit.
As a man the Lord was not able to indwell His followers. But as the Life Giving Spirit the Lord is able to indwell us. He said also in John 7:39 that the Spirit was " not yet" because Jesus was not yet Glorified.

In resurrection this Jesus CHrist was glorified John 20:17, we see the Lord's speaking to Mary telling her not to touch Him because He has not yet ascended to the Father. This was His secret ascension.. He publically ascended later on before many witnesses.

As the resurrected One in John 20:22.. we see Him coming to the Disciples on the night of His resurrection and saying to them' Peace be unto you" then the Lord Jesus.. the Last Adam breathed into the Disciples and said' Receive the Holy SPirit'
He can only do this by leaving them..but His leaving was physical.. it was not spiritual.

Is it not interesting that even after 40 days following His resurrection the Lord Jesus kept appearing and disappearing before the Disciples in order to teach them His invisible presence. They knew Him only as the Son of God .. as the Son of Man walking and talking and living with them for 3 and half years.. they had to learn Him as the Life Giving Spirit.
The Comforter coming was 'from/with" the Lord. Its no wonder we see many verses in the Epistles that refer to the Holy SPirit as " the Spirit of Jesus.. the Spirit of Christ.. the SPirit of Jesus CHrist.. the Life Giving Spirit..." The Holy SPirit first came as the Comforter in order to comfort the hearts of the disciples because of the Lord's physical absence.. but after this title He is not referred to much as the Comforter but moreso as all the other titles listed above.

God is Triune and cannot be separate.. He co exists.. and coinheres ...So in essence brother.. His " leaving " was physical" not spiritual.

Great thought provoking Q brother

I would like to quote a couplet by Shahid Bhagat Singh before he was being sent to the gallows it goes like this;

'O friends of the gathering, I am just a guest of the last few breaths/ I'm a lamp of the morning about to burn out/ My ideas will fly in the winds like the flashes of lightening/ My body is only a heap of dust, it may or may not be there'.

This seems prophetic before any one's physical self is about to be ended. Jesus must have meant that it is not important whether his physical self remains amongst his followers, by comforter he meant that his ideas shall always guide his followers because an idea can never be put to death or annihilated. 'The Holy Bible' is that comforter that is guiding so many human beings who truly and sincerely believe in Jesus.

That is a verse that was most likely written by a scribe for Christ.

Most of the post crusifiction accounts of Jesus, become very cloudy in history, some of them, like the account at the end of Mark, are known to be made up and added after the fact.

So it is likely that the expediency verse was added by a priest of scribe or early Christian, who was trying to find a reason for Christs departure and lack of current tangibility.

he meant that it is advantageous that he leaves us all as then he opens the gate of heaven to us and he died for our sins so tat w will be forgiven from that movement onwards. the comforter is holy spirit. it is the peace and comfort that Jesus has left with us during his absence. it is only an absence in a human kind of way but he is present with us through the holy spirit guiding and comforting us.

In my religion, we believe that the Comforter promised by Jesus is my religion which is Spiritism. Not in a way of being something absolutely right, but the teaching we get there which can be found within ourselves, not necessarily in this or that religion. That is the understanding of past lives and life after-death, reincarnation, spirits coming to help us, etc. The faith in those things might be called Holy Spirit.

Peace!
