I have worked at my job for 2.5 years. I have been trying to move up or over to another dept. because I am burnt out at what I do and need a change. I had an interview last week. I get real nervous and I break out in red spots all over my face, neck, and chest. (I had a low cut shirt on) When they asked me my weakness, I said "Anxiety because I turn red and it's really embarrasing" As I was saying this, I felt myself getting hotter and I knew I just made it worse. They started laughing and said, "Well at least we won't have any problem reading you" lol
How should I take that? oh and at the end they asked me "Why do you think we should pick you for this job?" and I drew a blank because i was so nervous. I don't even remember seeing them. It's like I was so nervous I went blind (not really).......I think I said something like " OH gosh, you asked me a crazy question" or " I don't know"

Don't worry too much about it (lol) you've been with the Company for almost three years. They KNOW what you are capable of, your strengths and weaknesses. If you are the person for the job; you'll get it. Good Luck!!!

I think that not being able to answer that last question did you in far worse than your anxiety. At least you were honest about that, so I doubt that they would really hold it against you. When I interview, I always expect the candidate to be nervous, and take that into account.
Of course, it also depends on what the job entails. If you will be expected to be in numerous public speaking situations, or something along those lines, being a nervous and anxious person is definitely a major strike against you. Otherwise, it shouldn't be a big deal.
So, I still think you have a chance at this job, granted your credentials are adequate, and you answered the technical/job-specific question correctly.

I know I dont get red spots from anxiety, but it sounds like you have some chance, what job are you going for?, when they said we wont have a problem reading you was it a laughing matter or just, oh ya we know that now sorta thing, and usually when you draw a blank when they ask you why do you think you deserve this job, that splits your chances.
Get back to me and tell me if you get the job I would be happy to know!

You didn't bomb your interview (though you could have done a bit better). Remember, most interviews are just for show. People usually have their mind made up as to who they want to hire in advance (the "ringer") As for the weakness question, I would have said, "I am far too methodical about what I do at work."
It is a BS answer, but one that is almost expected on a "no win" BS question like that.
As for "why should we hire you?" I would have said, "because I bring alot to the table, such as [fill in your redeeming traits here]."
Again, another BS question.. if you have to ask, you shouldn't be hiring me (i.e. if the answer is not self-evident, it is probably non-existant).

I have the same problem and just had an interview Friday. I just repeat to myself over and over that I am confident and make yourself believe it. Try and have the answers ahead of time so you can have confience when you answer. Most people understand and will not make a big deal over it. If you just be yourself most of the time that is good enough.

yes you blew it. most interviews are not even about the job, its all about you. you couldnt even stand up to the plate for simple questions, what if you got the job and there was a real problem your anxiety showed them that your not a clutch player your not some one who can be counted on. try practice interviews with friends before the next one

lesson for next time. prepare, think of questions you are going to be asked and then answer them to yourself. like anything else, good preparation = success.
