What are your facts that heaven, hell, the Lord, Jesus Christ, really do exist?
I am a Christian, but I am engaged to be married to an athiest. Now I am not looking to be attacked, he asked me the other day how to prove it. I don't know how to prove it. I just believe.

I know, we try to avoid it most of the time, because it does cause some issues, but he asked me for facts...

sugarbabe -- no he doesn't go to church with me, in fact we had a pastor coming around to our apartment complex and giving information. He brought it into me and said "in case you were interested, this might be a church you would like to attend"
i thought that was very sweet of him. he told me he had no problem with me going to church. He has been to church before...

The problem is that there are NO facts that any of those things exist. That's why the whole religion is based on faith. Your fiance asked you to prove it because he knows you can't. Why do you think he is an atheist? Probably because he has given it enough thought to conclude that there is no proof. You may be the type of person that doesn't require proof, but your fiance isn't. You can't prove it to him. You'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.

Remember this: You can't prove history, there is evidence and eye-witness accounts of it, often written down in texts.
There are atheists that strongly deny the existance of Jesus Christ, but then, how can you prove the existance of Julius Caesar, Hitler, Copernicus, Newton?
As a Christian, you have to take firm your belief that the bible is the inspired word of God. The very existance of the bible is some record of Jesus Christ. Atheists will say, "The bible cannot be trusted / It is twisted / It is a forgery", but where is their proof? Why not trust the words written ages ago, but trust the writings of Newton and his laws of physics?
How do atheists know Newton existed? Because there is historical record that he did. But if they rejected these records/disputed these texts, how would they know if he truly existed? This is what is happening to Jesus Christ.
Take faith in Jesus Christ - the same way a friend promises you to do you a favor, take hope that they will do it, and they haven't lied about these things.

The point that you will need to understand is that to an atheist "just believing in god" with out evidence is the same as "just believing in Santa or the tooth fairy". The primary reason that I became an atheist is that I used to use all the standard christian proofs of god, but then started researching to see if they were true, they weren't and there wasn't any evidence to show otherwise.
Generally when an atheist talks about evidence or proof, they are looking for either something that shows a god had to intervene i.e. an amputee regrowing a limb or historical evidence that miracles in the Bible or other holy books existed, for example a world wide layer of silt dating to the same time would indicate a global flood.

You can't and that is the point. There isn't a shred of empirical evidence to back up any of it.
Now if you guys are fighting about religion and you feel attacked, why are you getting married? You really need to work all this out now, and respect each other enough to keep it from being an issue.

It's like asking for facts that love, concern and caring exists.
We believe because we see and understand this.
That is why we enter into a relationship with the living God.
It is just as real as any relaitonship we have with another.
We have the proof within our selves,
and we have proof in what He has done in our lives.
He will have to make an effort on his own to find the facts.
The Spirit will convict and convince, not us.
Just tell him the proof is in the experience.

Heaven, hell, and Jesus Christ (as the Son of God) are subjective beliefs. They are not based on facts. Heaven and hell, in particular, aren't even traditional Christian beliefs (but have been added in recent centuries). What you can argue (but not prove) is that pure rationalism is not a valid criteria for truth, that atheism requires as many presuppositions as theism, and that a belief in God is (at least) justifiable.

You can't prove God exists any more than he can prove He doesn't exist. Belief in God is a matter of faith. Does your future hubby go to church with you?

I believe in God but not the biblical God sorry
so I cant help with your " facts "
but isnt Christianity faith based ?
you cant prove faith ... and you shouldnt try to prove your beliefs to anyone
and if you are to be married , then your partner should understand that and respect that ... as you should with his beliefs

There is NO scientific proof on either side. Both sides have conflicting experiments on things like the effectiveness of prayer. Don't spend your marriage doing this ..if you can't respect each others beliefs don't get married.

The Bible says do not be unequally yoked with the unbelievers. You are not married yet, and you are already incompatible. When you have children, maybe he will put his Athiest religon into their heads.
