hah, I was about to ask this same question. :-)

If the boy scout had not had a bag of butterfingers (or whatever) in his tent this never would have happened. Bears don't just poke their heads in tents unless they smell food.

The Bible doesn't say they were killed. Also, I believe this was a youth gang, rather than small children.

It never said they were killed, just that they were mauled. And no, they wouldn't have survived (if indeed the bears killed them) if they had played dead.

And they weren't kids. That was a mistranslation. *Gasp* Yes, I know. Amazing, isn't it?
