The crew chief of the 24 team is an admiited cheat he has been supended and fine numerous time. Is that why the 24 is so good? Or is there something about being in the bent socket society?

I look at it this way. If you aint cheatin' you aint tryin'. They all push the rules to get any advantage they can. When they get caught they pay. My only problem is that when somebody wins a race an is found to have violated the rules, NASCAR issues fines and maybe takes point away but they still allow the win. I wish they would change that. I'm no Jeff Gordon fan but you have to admit that he's a great driver. I am a Dale Earnhardt & Jr. fan but you have to let the cheating conspiracy theories go dude. Jr. got fined $10,000 and lost 25 points for saying "****" in a post race interview that had nothing to do with cheating in the race when all NASCAR had to do is use a delay in the broadcast and that could have been bleeped out. The only reason he was being interviewed was because he won. Why don't they give them all a chance to screw up in an interveiw after a race then? NASCAR isn't perfect by any means but they keep trying to get things right. NASCAR definitely has a vested interest in seeing one of their most popular drivers win the championship, i.e. Jeff Gordon. That doesn't mean that they will overlook a rules violation just to get him there.

Are you new to NASCAR?

As usual, a Jeff Gordon detractor rants about possible cheating by the #24 team. Where's that same rant when Kenseth was caught several times cheating in the Busch series this year? Where was that same rant when Biffle was caught cheating, where was that same rant when Mayfield was caught cheating....and the list goes on and on.....

As the saying goes, "It's not cheating until/unless you're caught". And everyone knows every car owner tries their best to gain an advantage over the rest of the competition.

This question goes against community guide lines by saying Steve Letarte is an admitted cheat. That is a blatant lie. He has not been suspended and fined numerous times. He was suspened one time and not because he admitted to cheating. He and the 48 crew chiew were suspended for making the fenders on their cars wider than NASCAR liked. The car fit the template that NASCAR uses to determine if a car is legal or not. So, how was it cheating when the cars fit into that template? Get your facts correct before you launch a defamatory attack on someone, please.

I like Bow Leg's plan as well.....except that the people caught should have to pick up the wrappers under a green flag!!

And Gordon's Crew Chief has not been suspended numerous times. Once!!

Its Nascar...everyone bends the rules...Look at all the cheating there has been this yr...but Nascar now catches you..He passed inspection after the race...so that should answer your question, no cheating this past weekend for the 24.

no they are not. look at the pre race records and nascar said they car fit the template but they did not like they way it looked. so if you are going to say it has to fit this template and then you say ok it fits but we dont like the way it looks then how on earth is anyone going to know what to do. I guess everyone is going to drive the same car and if that is the case sit back and watch Jeff, Tony and Jimmy win every race because if you have the same car the best driver is going to win and those 3 are by far the best with Jeff being the best among the 3.

Okay, you claim the 24 crew chief cheats...well, how about when he got suspended, he won a race without him? That is skill.

Cheating is not the issue.
Gordon is the best driver in the sport today.Others judge their performance by him.
There is a certain amount of politics to NASCAR that we the fans will not know.
Early in the race Saturday it was mentioned that Charlotte is the "Crown Jewel" for Hendrick racing as their shop is "across " the street from the speedway. This is their home track and is their race for braggin rights.
It is hard to finger what is going on but since Big Bill passed NASCAR rules were buried with him.

I don't think they are cheating. Just maybe found a tweak that no-one else has.

Remember when (I think Jimmy Johnson) was getting great gas mileage a few years back? Everyone thought they were cheating. Turns out they just put a smaller carb on to increase gas mileage, but only have a loss of about 2 hp.

That was their tweak.
