I'm 14 and I would like some help on answering the following questions (sources would be good);

1) Where and how is marijuana produced?

2) What is the Governments' (Australian preferably but any would be good) attitude towards its use?

3) What possible programs exist to assist the quitting or rehabilitation process?

4) What are the social and pyschological consequences of long-term abuse of Marijuana?

I would really be greatful for the help.. It's for an essay due in two days, and I have now learnt to not leave things to the last minute.

1) Marijuana is a plant that is grown in the ground or outside of it as long as it is kept watered and in sunlight

4) There are no long-term consequences of long-term abuse of Marijuana. Marijuana is a drug that is only illegal because the government hasn't decided to tax it yet. In due time. Socially, marijuana is a stimulant that brings people together and opens them up making them less shy, etc. Pyschological, I have no idea. My dad has smoked since he was younger then 13 and still smokes marijuana today (he's 38). He doesn't gave disabilities or anything like that. He's actually an outstanding worker, very sociable, and doesn't seem to have any pyschological problems (lol).
Look, this isn't the best answer for your essay but as far as what is true, this is the best.
I'm 17 and I smoke WITH my parents. The stereotype is that smoking marijuana causes kids to fall back in school, etc. That is by there own personal choice, not a side-effect of marijuana. They quit by there damn self. My grades are kept up (B+ to A+) and I'm planning on becoming a firefighter in the not so distant future. Smoking is what you make it. If you let it control you, it will. I know this isn't your question but as for facts it's true. Sure if you abuse it, your mind will think you are depended upon it just like any drug but do you ever see people on marijuana in car accidents, killing people, or anything else illegal (excluding possession of) in the news or anything? Do you ever see that a serial killer was a pothead and that is what sent him crazy? Do you ever see people high and cause a car accident? Usually even if marijuana is involved, they don't mention it because it doesn't change a damn thing about the incident. If anything, it makes you MORE aware of the environment around you making you drive BETTER.
Also, for #4, long-term abuse can/may shorten your memory.
As for the answer above me, your brother is a no-life crackhead, not a pothead.
BTW, thumbs me down, I don't care. I speak from experience and don't say omg my brothers ex-wives roommates sister-in-law was a pothead and she had problems! Don't talk down upon something unless you have experienced it yourself.

A. Legalize, then tax and regulate marijuana like alcohol. What we have now is similar to what happened during prohibition back in the 1920's. Despite the state and federal government spending billions annually to try and eradicate cannabis it's still easily obtainable and people still get high. Only real difference is not instead of Chicago based mobsters like Al Capone we have Mexican drug cartels calling the shots. As a matter of fact there is a bill pending in the California Legislature which if passed will tax, regulate and legalize marijuana for recreational use. It's expected to generate 1.2 billion dollars in tax revenue per year.

1) At 14 you don't need to know how it is grown even for a school thing. Ican be grow most anywere though.
2) Here is the US it can get you put away for a long time.
3) I really have only seen a rehab program that I Vol. at, was more like quiting smoking, it didn't seem to work that well as alot of people ended up right back on it.
4) It dose seem to help with pain, but that could be from the killing of brain cells and you do lay around not wanting to do anything worth wild with your self. I have a brother in law whom from his teen years till even now still uses it and he is 44 now, he lives off other people , no job, some times he is so druged up he wets his self in his sleep.... thats from years of use. good luck with your project.

Marijuana is grown, anywhere.
The United States is opposed to it's use.
Re-hab would be any drug recovery.
There have been studies-forget fullness, speech problems and some cognitive difficulties over prolong use.
My point is this.... Alcohol drugs, and cigarettes are legal in this country and have the same ill effects on people as Marijuana. If Marijuana was legal, it would be the drug of choice because it is FREE. Tax is payed on cigarettes and alcohol so the government does not want that financial situation threatened.
The bottom line-in a free country Marijuana is forbidden, while other durgs just as serious to your health is readily available yet taxable.

I think I could answer some of your questions:
1> Marijuana is produced in all parts of the world illegally but the most is produced in Mexico, Columbia, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, etc.

4>Long-term regular users of marijuana may become psychologically dependent. They may have a hard time limiting their use, they may need more of the drug to get the same effect, and they may develop problems with their jobs and personal relationships. The drug can become the most important aspect of their lives. Some immediate physical effects of marijuana include a faster heartbeat and pulse rate, bloodshot eyes, and a dry mouth and throat. No scientific evidence indicates that marijuana improves hearing, eyesight, and skin sensitivity.

Studies of marijuana's mental effects show that the drug can impair or reduce short-term memory, alter sense of time, and reduce ability to do things which require concentration, swift reactions, and coordination, such as driving a car or operating machinery.

I don't know about Australian laws but in some places it is actually accepted. It is not as addictive as tobacco or alcohol and causes less damage to society. It is a weed and grows as one. Paper, rope, garments and many other things are made from it. If more cultivation were allowed it would eliminate the need to cut our forests. It has medicinal uses for many which has been studied and documented.
