I fed it, ( I have owned cats your years and have 3 of my own). She is slowly growing but i believe she may have worms. I am NOT a believer in taking an animal to the vet for every ailment, so my question is, where can I get a tape worm remedy and how is purchased .. by how much your animal weighs? I thinks she is maybe 3 pounds and need to get her spay but That alone is very costly. So if I can at least cure the worm problem, I can take her to the vet for a spaying . Thanks

I was an intern at a animal clinic. When animals came with tape worm problems or any sort of worm problems. The vet always said that heart guard worm tablets worked great. You can buy those at any local vet location. You need to make sure that you give the kitten the right dosage depending on its weight. You have to do it soon because the worms can infest the heart and kill the kitten. The best thing that I would recommend is going to the vet. I know that it's expensive but it's worth it. You might as well and get its vaccinations. If you can't afford another cat then take it to a animal shelter. Animals are a big responsibility and they deserve proper care. Also tape worms or any sort of worms can be contagious and can infect your other cats so be careful.

if you can find and check the stools you will know for sure, once they are fed regular food cats internal organs takes over, cleans any problems they may have, your absolutely right Vets have taken money for x worming and shots that never really required. the sad part most new pet owners think they should make regular visits. this is not a requirement when you have an inside cat,
to avoid paying good money out for bad,
, make sure your vet is beyond this fakers demand.
Cats should only see a vet if they are ill. unless of course you let the poor animal out then you will have to pay through the nose,
because they get into everything and need a lot of attention. Cats should never be let out,
they are not wild animals.

Best working, safest, cheapest wormer I know of is "WORMOUT" by VetaFarm.

It's a dual active ingredient,,,2 meds in one .
Its effective against everything except heartworms.
Lots of others are not .

Their Cat and Dog pills are a bit pricey.

Pigeon Pills,,,of all things,,,, are exact same ingredients.
(Even I myself l still chuckle everytime I say that)
It's Strange,but True

The "Catch" to that is this;
a)They are 1/4 the size of a normal Cat Dose in One ingredient
b) They are 1/8th the size of Cat Dosage in the Other ingredient.

I give my cats 2 pills,,
Which amounts to a 1/4 Dose of 1 med,,,and 1/2 dose of the other.

Yet that Works 100% Excellent,,,better than everything else I've ever used by far.
Even at the reduced Dosage.

I had one cat that NOTHING seemed to work on for more than a month or so.
Not even $40/"dose" VET Meds.
She was 10yrs old when I found this,,and was worm-free for 1st time in her life

Also have a little mutant cat ,,full grown and about 3 lbs,,very tiny.
Head smaller than a golf ball.
So small she doesn't look real,,,size of a 2 month old.

And some Big cats,,,12 lbs or more.

I give them all the same 2 Pill-"Half Dose" and have had perfect results

100 Pills is about $27 with shipping
That's 50 Treatments worth at 2 pills per treatment

Making Cost per Treatment about 50 CENTS per Treament.

Look around Online and check Prices on Cat Wormers.

If the idea of using "Pigeon Pills" sounds Goofy,,,
The idea of 50 CENTS per treatment Sounds INSANE.

Your 3 cats,,plus your lil visitor,,is 4 cats You'll need to worm at least Twice a year.
Most Vets reccomend to do it every 3 months.

So thats 8 to 16 Doses you'd need for All your Cats ,,Annually.

You'll find Most places get $2~3 on Up,,, Per Dose
Some are over $10

You may not want to spend $25 all at once,,,
But 50 Doses is enough for several YEARS for ALL your cats.

Sounds Gross,,,but Ya also gotta figure what to do when Kitty barfs up a half digested $5~10 dose or worm meds.

This stuff helps being able to afford those sort of instances

I'm not a Vet,,and am not "prescribing anything".
and hope this doesnt sound like a Sales Pitch

You can look around for yourself and decide.

You'll see what I'm talking about,,,this is EXCELLENT stuff,,and easily the Best Deal you'll ever find.
Especially for anyone with several animals to worm.

Here's VetaFarm's Wormout page---their website is Goofy
http://www.vetafarm.com/show_product.asp?category_id=-1&item_number=0587E

Note the CAT Dosage:
Per Tab:
Praziquantel 38mg,
Oxfendazole 75mg

Those are about $7 US Dollars for 6 pills

Here's what I use instead of those.

#38 Wormout Tabs 100 $19.95
Looks like Shipping is about $7~8

http://www.foyspigeonsupplies.com/catalog/wormers/index.html

These are 10Mg of each drug,,,
compared to the 38mg/75mg actual Cat Pill dose.

2 -10mg/10mg pills have worked great for several years now.

Thats probably a better dose for a sickly, small /young cat anyway.
............................................................

As for Spaying,
Many towns have discount places or on certain days have "spay & neuter clinics".
Most Animal Shelters or Pet Stores would know if there's such a thing available in your area.

Or another thought,,,if Your area doesnt,,,perhaps a nearby town does?
Depends upon Costs,I know,,whether a Drive to another place is worth it or not.

Never hurts to check around,,ya might get lucky.

Take care,,, I hope Kitty does well

if you ask your vet for milbemax it is £1.50 per tablet these work the best. but you can get bob martins and the cost about £3 but you need a tablet or paste that does round worm, tapeworm and hook worm if you are in the uk if abroad you also have to treat for heart worm. i know that a paste would be easier and shirley's make this.

Don't bother treating the stray cat for worms
unless you are going to adopt the cat into
your home. A outside stray cat will just
keep getting worms , fleas etc.

Your best bet would be going to a vet, simply because worms can get serious if not treated. The vet would make sure that they are taken care of correctly! Please take her there, it shouldn't be that expensive. While she's there you can give her the rest of her shots as well, if she needs any.

Take the kitten to the vet for a complete examination, immunizations and neutering or take it to a shelter. Do not allow it to run around spreading diseases, to other cats, die a painful death or create more unwanted kittens.

For tapeworms you'll need Cestex or Drontal, both of which are prescription drugs - she'll need to see a vet.
