I agree with you, it would take far more faith and irrationality NOT believing in God than it does believing in Him. No one in their right mind could say that chance accounts for the human body, especially if you know biology and chemistry.
People tend to try to harmonize evolution with God so they can justify (on their own) their scientific careers, but they don't realize that morally, that is an impossible argument, since there is no theology from any ancient day saying the human race is getting 'better and better' and even in this day it appears things are getting 'worse and worse.'
But what is the response of most people in science out there to this? Keep the elephant in the closet. Pretend God doesn't exist so athiests alone can CONTROL scientific fields--gee the horror it would cause if scientist that was creationist ever got control of a major university's science program. Galileo must not occur again--even though ironically, the modern Galileo is a creationist.
With many people, both scientists and non-- it is not that God isn't there, but that God isn't WANTED.

EACH of us begins life as a tiny single cell that some 20 years later yields a full-grown adult. From that one minuscule cell come all the various body parts: heart, stomach, liver and other internal organs; the intricate eyes and ears; the versatile fingers.
The human body is far more complex than an automobile, yet, as the Bible says, “all its parts were down in writing.” (Psalm 139:16) The Creator has provided the entire blueprint in one tiny cell. Where does the cell store this huge amount of information?
The DNA blueprint is vital to a cell. When a cell divides, each of the two new cells will need its own blueprint. This means that before a cell can divide, all the DNA must be copied to generate a duplicate set of genes. After the DNA has been carefully copied, the strands are coiled back and forth on themselves into very dense bundles. As the cell divides, these bundles are divided equally between the two new cells so that each receives an identical blueprint. Once inside the new cells, the bundles are uncoiled. All these manipulations are performed in such a meticulous manner that no sections of the strands—none of the vital genes—are accidentally knotted up, broken off or lost. Yet these processes occur inside a cell nucleus only a tiny fraction of the length of the DNA. What an extraordinary feat of design!
All this information is found in a substance called DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), most of which is located in a small compartment in the cell known as the nucleus. Human nuclei have 46 chromosomes. These chromosomes are essentially very long, thin strands of DNA. The strands are so long because all the needed information, contained in 3 to 4 million genes, is stored in the sequence of the DNA.

How anyone can keep advancing the argument from design, after Darwin and the science of modern genetics, is absolutely incredible. Besides, your argument is fundamentally flawed. In your analogy you compare a thing that we know to be designed, i.e. the carved faces on Mt. Rushmore, with other mountains which are clearly not designed. Then you extend this comparison to living organisms to argue that they are designed by a creator God who designed the entire universe. But you have already refuted this assertion in the first part of your analogy by admitting that most mountains do not appear designed in contrast to Mt. Rushmore. But if your conclusion is valid all mountains should appear designed like Mt. Rushmore. They don't. This is not explained by your theory of an intelligent designer of the universe, but it is perfectly explained by naturalism. Applying Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection we should see a progression toward complexity among those things which can replicate themselves imperfectly in an environment with limited natural resources, such as living organisms. We would also expect to see mountains shaped by the laws of nature rather than by the hand of an intelligent designer. We do. Your analogy defeats your own argument.

No intelligent designer would design a body so flawed. Either we're the product of evolution or your god isn't so intelligent.
And don't give me that "we WERE perfect but the descent after being cast out of Eden has taken its toll on us", this would make your argument that the body is intelligently designed entirely speculative (which, ironically it already is).

Not likely !! The human body is the result of "Evolution"as was the "Evolution" of the Dinosaurs,The earth is older than
God-Christ or The Holy Spirit,by 34 million years,according
to the Christian beliefs God was on this earth 2,000 years ago,so where now is the Christian truth ????

Totally agree. And the more you examine the more it must be acknowledged.
Just a side note: This is the first time I've ever heard the body as being poorly designed. I like mine just the way it is. It'd just like it to be taller. :)

yes, a very intelligent design! Can u imagine how you look like if not? Try to figure out if our nose located between the legs? our face is on our butt, our eyes in both knees and you pee in your ears?

the human body is not a design..it is a body according to the body of God. Isaiah , Ezechiel, Daniel has seen God and He looks like us..so we are not design!we come from the breath of God..looking like Him, reacting like Him at injustice....loving like Him...if we have love..not hate
wish you joy in Lord!
