no. the better thing to do would be to pray for their forgiveness, and perhaps even that these people would realize what they had done. personally, i would ask God to help me to forgive these people, and to keep the pastor who was attacked close to Him, and to help the pastor to forgive his attackers as well. but we definitely DO NOT curse people in Jesus' most holy name.

You could, but you must keep in mind the Creative Law...What goes around, comes around...that request you create & send out will go all over reaping like thought, growing ever stronger, then it returns to its creator--you...be careful what you wish for!!!
Let me give you a more truthful perspective...God will tell you, "I send you nothing but Angels"...if we did not have people in our realms that "do harm", we would not have the opportunities to know ourselves as compassionate, forgiving, vengeful, angry, bold, courageous, fearful, etc. These make up the palate of things we can choose to be from in any given circumstance. Those that cause these choices can also be given the opportunity to see your reflection of the matter, and may spark that desire to make wiser choices for themselves...See???
Sooo, the next time you are in a situation where you feel victimized in some way, think clearer & deeper...Who & what are YOU now as the result??? This, my dear are the things wisdom is made from...Good Journey!!!

Actually that is one thing Christians do not have to pray for. That is actually something God will do Himself. "Revengence is mine saith the Lord." Seriously a true Christian will be praying that the person will find Christ and not harm on a person. Wicca or other cults do pray for harm on others though. Maybe you should post your question about other groups that wish harm. Casting spells and such.
Update to your statement. Your friend was reacting to anger about what happened to your pastor and his wife. Truth is that is not the way to be. Bible says to pray for your enemies. Not to curse them, but ot bless them.

Christianity is about forgiveness, so those who are praying for harm to someone is not being Christ-like. Even Jesus prayed for God to forgive those who crucified Him. How much more forgiving can someone get? But I always pray for legal justice. Like if a pedophile murders a kid, I pray that he is brought to justice and punished for his crime. His eternal life is something between him and God, and that's only for God to determine where he will go.

I think we can pray for anything.
But the more selfish, greedy and self-serving our prayers become - the less and less likely they are of being answered.
"You ask but you do not receive because you ask with wrong motives" - James 4
We would do well if not better - to pray for our enemies that we might learn to forgive them. A Christian praying for some form of divine punishment on his enemies - is really not much of a Christian at all.

Those lessons may be forgiveness to the one that is harming them and also for God to help them be a better ,kinder person. God is the only one that would decide to punish someone, that's why prayer is ended with "Thy will be done"It is Gods will that is important, not ours.

We are to pray that God will touch their heart and change them for the good, that God will push out the devil that is making the person that away, and for God to bless them. Christian's that pray as you stated, I would question their Christianity. The Bible says to love those who do evil to you and pray FOR them, not against them.

Why would we want to pray for punishment when we are better off to pray for their Salvation. We are here to be witnesses for Christ and need pray for salvation of peoples and not for punishment. There will be a time when we all will stand before GOD and then those who did evil will receive there punishment.

No.
Only Christians who harbour this hatred and prays this corrupted prayer of harm has committed murder in their hearts and if they do not change soon, they would never enter God's rest.
Only those that God give authority to may do so.
God Bless.

Absolutely not !
God's word says vengence Is Mine saith the Lord; I will repay. God Is our shield & buckler. In Him do I seek refuge.
Anyone that thinks that they can ask God to bring punishment to someone needs to make sure they're In the faith...Aren't we told to pray for those that use and curse you...It says In the Bible : As I have heard It said In My ears;so will I do It unto you.
