You can put it in straight from the fridge, but it looks better if you brown it first and also seals the juices in better.

Well if u want ur chicken to have a brown roasted look then u can brown it up so that way when it gets cooked it will not break off into pieces easily. Or if u just want to cook the chicken and get a good soup u can also directly put the chicken from the fridge and put in the slow cooker and enjoy it.

You can put it straight in - in which case it is better without the skin which could look and feel rather unpalatable, but if you wish you can brown it. I do this and then sit it on the veggies and put in a small amount of liquid to come up the chicken but not to cover it completely.
I brown the night before and bung it all in slo-cooker next morning.
I also sometimes put everything in, unbrowned chicken and all and leave on all day. Remove the chicken and whack it under the grill to brown while keeping the rest warm in the slow cooker. How you do it is entirely up to you. Enjoy your slow cooker - it is without doubt the best thing since sliced bread!

No need to brown the chicken first, try chicken Chaucer , just buy a packet of the sauce, put mushrooms in with the chicken and the sauce mix, leave on low overnight it's great.
Chicken straight from the fridge is OK., Just plop it in the slow cooker with the water/sauce mix and mushrooms.
If I can do it anyone can.

Yes, you can put the chicken raw directly into your slow cooker. Aside from being roasted, I find the slow cooker the best way to cook chicken, especially if it's in pieces. Just remember to put enough stock, water or sauce, or it'll be dry.

I put it in straight from the fridge. I find it best to use chicken thighs as they have more flavour and don't dry out during cooking.

You don't need to brown it, no. I usually put chicken or beef with veggies (raw) & stock & get a gorgeous stew! I tend to put it on low when I go to bed so it's ready for the next evening.
