Sounds to me like you want to join the JR ROTC, ROTC, Boy Scouts, or something of that nature. In the military.... deployments are part of the game. And you are asking about not going to combat during time of war.... don't think that is going to happen either.
You either do or do not want to be in the military. If you REALLY want to be in it.... you accept both the good and the bad.

You first need to ask yourself the reason why you are joining the military. While deployments might not be on the top of your list, it is something that everyone who joins is expected to perform. If you look at any of the four services core values, they all share simular quailities of service before self and selfless service. This basicly meens that the mission comes first. Never deploying only hurts your career as you will have young upcoming soldiers, sailors, marines, and airman who will have less time in the service then you, but will know their jobs a lot more and will later suprass you in rank. Joining the military is about serving your country and you'll be serving with people in that mindset. You should really look at the reasons why you want to join the military before you sign up not for a deployment.
On the flipside, I have heard that 50% of the Army has never deployed so you can take your chances.

Several of the instructional units that had been previously classified as non-deployable units found themselves reclassified with this ongoing war. If you want to join the military but don't want to die particularly, then you would have to go into a brainiac field. If you already have any engineering background that would help. The more school you sign up for the better, and the more you already have, the less combat you will actually see. No matter what, you will get deployed at this time.

well first of all its pointless to join the department of DEFENSE......if your sole intention is to not defend anything. seriously what other reason would you join. also judging from your previous questions and answers you are extremely racist against caucasians so i really dont foresee you lasting through basic training. what are you gonna do when a big white guy is in your face yelling at you??? i really think you should rethink this whole military thing.....and btw no you are not safe in the navy....they do deploy, and in these days they do see combat.....on the ground in iraq and afghanistan. you could join and as soon as a deployment comes up play the part of a conscientious objector.......but then you would be dishonorably discharged and have to pay back enlistment bonuses and stuff like that. so im gonna stick to my original thought.....get a life.

Really don't know where that would be all branches deploy including the Navy, my son is playing in the sandbox as I write and he is a Navy Chief so they do deploy to the sandbox. Why join an organization where the people are willing to give all for their country if you aren't willing to do the same? God Bless our Troops and their Families..

Off hand, the only Job in the Military I can think of in which you would never be deployed is Missile Officer in the Air Force.
But you do spend a LOT of time sitting in the Silo waiting to do a job that if you do it, will result in the death of you, your family, and every single person you know.

Join the Navy...
Granted, you may have to spend 9-15 months on a ship, but at least you won't be running around in the big sandbox, getting shot at or your legs blown off by an IED.
Just make sure you don't pick a job that includes shore-based duty, like SeaBees (construction), Master at Arms (cop), or corpsman (Navy medic for Marines).

It's not possible. Joining the millitary means there is always the possibility of deployment or combat.
Don't join if you're that chickenshit.

Keep playing your video games.. That's about the closest thing there is to what you're asking. That way you can be a "soldier" without having to give up your Hot Pockets and soda.
