How do we overcome this???

Some people have such severe pain from medical conditions that they can't like arthritis, fibromyalgia, whiplash syndrome, car accident injuries, repeated migraine and tension headache sufferers, dysmenorrhea, etc. And when people have multiple physical conditions keeping them from even enjoying daily life, it saps the energy and strength right out of them to do the exercise even on good days or they have to catch up on their house work on good days.

Others just lack enough motivation or lack the energy. Including people who have been sick or people who are depressed enough to not want to get out of bed (with or without body aches but may have severe exhaustion).

People with 2 or 3 jobs or long hours (80+) each week with one job and kids and sometimes night school to improve their lives.

Others may just not want to, even when they know better and are not any of the above but are couch potatoes or pc hogs.

To overcome this, people who are "busy" can try to get a little less sleep or become a little less busy and force it into their schedules. People who have severe physical pain can "try" to push past and through the pain but try telling us that when we're ready to go to the hospital again for our shots or surgeries or going to pain management clinics and feel like no one outside (and sometimes inside) the medical world understands what we go through on an almost daily basis. Some people who lack enough energy, motivation, or are pc players and t.v. watchers can maybe benefit from having group exercise and trials for a month at the gym and friends who will call them or visit if they miss class or wake them up at 5 in the mornings for a daily walk/jog. Some of the t.v. people can turn their channels to fit t.v. or get a fitness video that has dance music to get them up out of their seats.

I spent some time at a fitness camp some time ago like the ones on http://www.fitnesscamps.net/ and i have to say it was wonderful to meet all the people I met there. I went for quite some time to the particular program i chose because i felt i needed to lose a fair bit of weight, and I came across the same attitude in many people. The conclusion i came to was that people are very tendency oriented. (This is something i picked up about myself at least) Basically, if you feel you're being healthy, you're gonna be more healthy, and if you feel you're being destructive you're gonna be more destructive, in the end creating a stronger virtuous cycle or vicious cycle, but a stronger one none the less. I saw this as the case for me. On days i had a big meal and was pretty glutonous with the desserts, I didn't exercise. What was the point? I had been so bad, no exercise was going to cancel that, So i'd end up doing the same thing with a late night snack or something. It took me my fitness camp experience to see that the RMR or resting metabolic rate difference between what i Weighed and what i know weigh, a wopping 270 to 220, the difference in resting metabolic rate is only 350 calories or so! That's nothing, that's not ordering fries, or doing half an hour of elliptical efx machine. So i guess the best thing i learned was that don't let myself get overwhelmed and defeated by tendencies. I hope this answers your question, it was nice sharing this with someone. Good luck!

It is not just exercise. Sleep is also very important to health. Exercise takes time and effort and as adults, so does everyday life. Work, groceries, bill paying takes over and exercise takes a back seat...way back. I joined Curves because it is just a couple of blocks away from my house and it is affordable. Spending money on a gym makes me more determined to show up at least once a week minimum. The more results that I see, the more often I want to make my appointments. I also walk. I would like to walk more often. The most important time to walk is right after a meal. Just walking 10 minutes after a meal helps to control insulin stability. Actually Curves takes 30-40 minutes to complete the circuit. You don't really need a couple of hours to do meaningful exercise. Also use housework as part of your routine. For example vacuming and mopping floors on a daily basis, is not only a good workout, you will enjoy a cleaner home. But the bad thing about being at home, we tend to want to kick our feet up and watch TV with some snacks nearby so be careful. I think that the most discouraging part of exercie is the idea that it should work like a microwave. In other words, we believe that we should be able to pop into the gym with our out-of-shape bodies then pop out an hour later with a new form. When that doesn't happen we don't want to go back.Sometimes we have to grab each spare second out of the day by parking farther away from the grocery store. Play is also important. So take a swim or walk in the park. I live near a park that is a great escape area. You can walk, ride the paddle boats, rent a bike, go horseback riding, visit the zoo and ride the train all in one park.I think that exercise is at everyones finger tips. Just invest whatever time that you can , be it 10 minutes or 10 hours.

Some people have health conditions that are worsened by exercise, so must not. Others are limited in their ability to exercise, so are not able to do much. You can't do anything about others' abilities, just your own. Do the best you can for as long as you can so you stay healthy for as long as possible.
