Killing them repels them, kinda.
A spritz with some 40% rubbing alcohol from a spray bottle'll drop them in mid-flight.
Pretty natural, and PRETTY AWESOME, TOO!

For the past 2 years we've been putting some cheap wine in a glass and sitting it of to the side of our porch. We kill atleast 20 flies a day

There is a restaurant that sits on water with an outdoor eating area. This sounds strange but they hang small plastic bags of water from the roof supports. They said they do it to keep the flies away. It must work because they don't have any. . .

Towanda had it right. The reflective water is apparently hard on their compound eyes. That and a rolled up newspaper works great, and it makes a great sound when you strike, whether you get the fly or not.

Elder foliage, Country folk used to keep some under thier hats. It works, I've tried it.

Purchase a fly swiper...You just have to be on guard to hit them especially if they are being annoying in the house.

If they are being annoying on you outside, rub yourself down with the skin so soft lotion by avon..this keeps them away from you temporarily.
