Assassin's Creed MIGHT come out on multiple discs for the 360. Grand Theft Auto 4 WILL come out on multiple discs for the 360. M$ is paying Rockstar big money for exclusive content because both parties know that the game won't run as well on the inferior console. The developers are already making the 360 obsolete. It's unfortunate because I own one.
Next year, Square is going to show the definition of next-gen with Final Fantasy XIII. Meanwhile, 360 games will look pretty much the same as they do now...unless they start using HD-DVDs for their games.
In the US, 360 owns this year...and last year, for that matter. But, its all PS3 in 2008.
The smartest move was by Nintendo. The Wii is a trendy toy console that captures a niche market better than its competitors. So, if its not in direct competition with PS3 and 360, it doesn't have to worry about either one being technically stronger. In the last 12 months, I've bought one Playstation 3 for myself, one X-box 360 for myself and THREE Wiis for chicks who have never and will never identify themselves as gamers. That is Nintendo's power (no pun intended).

It's incredible how entirely ignorant people are and it also shows how young most of the people who answer some of these questions are.
Has anybody heard of a little system called Playstation 2?? Thats right, the system that is in more than 120 million households?
PS2 got off to an even worse start and what happened to that??? Oh it only became the most popular and best selling system ever. It also destroyed Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 and Microsofts original Xbox.
People in the U.S. tend to think the U.S. is the only country playing video games. What they fail to realize is that this is a global market and Nintendo and PS3 are whats popular everywhere but in America where (right now) 360 seems like it is doing well.
And yes, 360 has gotten some of PS3's "exclusives" but who cares. You can have our old played out franchises, all the heavy hitters and new exclusives are far better than Devil May Cry and GTA. By the way have fun using two discs playing GTA 4 on your 360 because you can't put the whole game on one Blu Ray Disc, LOL. God of War, Metal Gear, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, Killzone, Ratchet and Clank, etc. aren't going anywhere.
While catching the Wii may be hard to do its only a matter of time before PS3 passes 360. In all honesty, this "generation" I think will end up.
Wii
PS3
360.

Well, if Sony can keep up with their marketing plots to keep the general public misinformed about the PS3's real hardware power (or lack thereof) they could pull of a second win against a competitor.
Take for example the Dreamcast back then and the PS2. Sega had it all: A techically superior system and innovative and fun games, whereas Sony released stories about the PS2 processor being so powerful as to guide cruise missiles and that stuff and selling stale rehashes of PS1 games.
Now it seems all the same again.
Sony has a less powerful hardware than its direct competitor and also has few innovative games.
However the people fall for it in droves, even buying the 40 GB model with left out PS2 backwards compatibility.
So basically it seems: Those buyers, that are informed enough and take all marketing blurb with the proverbial grain of salt, will know that buying a PS3 right now, is an ill advice.
Others that only get their information from Sony commercials and Playstation Magazines will only know about the 8 Cell processors (but not that of these 8 processors only one general purpose CPU is really useful in games), that Blue Ray makes excellent graphics (but in fact, Blue Ray is only a storage format. My PC has no Blue Ray drive, and can produce graphics that exceed even the PS3's "true HD" resolution of 1080p).
So basically, they can sell as much PS3s as they wish. The fact is, that the PS3 is currently technically and in regards of exclusive games not a great platform.
It's like the saying "Cow dung must taste good. Millions of flies can't be wrong!"

Definitely. PS3 just needs a little bit more time before it outsales the 360. Face it PS3 is the REAL NEXT GEN console with more advanced hardware and features than the 360. PS3's been out for almost a year and a interesting fact is that 360 actually sold LESS consoles than the PS3 after a year it was released. Just give the PS3 a little bit more time and before you know it 360 will be left cold!

I think it does have a chance at maybe number 1 but its gonna be hard but being number 2 is easy because after Halo 3 whats the 360 got thats so special? the ps3 is just getting to release its good games like uh little big planet,
Home( a free like 2nd life sims), The Simpsons Game, CallOf Duty 4 modern warfare,Devil may cry 4, and many other kewl games coming out. so they just had a $100 price drop that good enough for you so after halo 3 becomes old and all ps3 will become #2 in the next gen consoles then the way the way they will probaly be #2 by about this cristmas and after. so yeah PS3 is the way to go

The PS3 has a reliability score of 10/10. i've got had my PS3 through fact it first got here out and that i've got had no problems with it in any respect. that's a shame that persons ought to ask how stable a console is those days through Xbox 360's terrible failure value. in the previous the Xbox 360 got here out, video sport console reliability wasn't even an argument. yet confident, the PS3 is an incredibly stable console and could final you for destiny years.

According to marketing statistics PS3 follows PS2 steps - first sales weren't boosting, than much better times came. Same story - people complained about high PS2 prices, lack of games and all. Than PS2 wiped out Nintendo. Remember - 360 is much longer on the market. 40GB is coming. More than 300 games coming next year. Developers (such as Rockstar) already complaining about bad technological capabilities of 360 and Wii. We'll have cleare picture after 40GB release.

i could care less, i have the PS3 and Xbox360. i don't regret getting either one. and i could care less if neither one of them surpasses the Wii in sales. the wii is nothing but a gamecube with motion sensor controllers or whatever the hell they wanna call it. the Wii is by far the most inferior of the 3, which is why its so cheap. plus it has no games for hardcore gamers like me. fu

buddy, i dont know where you get your facts, but your dead wrong. Im sick and tired of sony fan-boys talking about how the ps3 isnt as successful because its 'younger', but when 360 was ps3's age, we had at least gears of war. and to talk about sony's 'exclusives', well they are far and few between. i thought it was quite funny actually when it was announced that many of sony's "exclusives", were to be released on the 360 as well, hahaha. I looked on the sony website, just for kicks and giggles, and saw in the news section that sony fan-boys had something to rejoice about, an exclusive! hahaha. sad when sony themselves admit scarcity in exclusive titles.
oh and heres a little news clipping....
Yesterday's launch of Halo 3 for Xbox 360 was the "biggest day in US entertainment history," according to Microsoft.
In its first 24 hours, Halo 3 racked up $170 million in sales in the United States. This put it ahead of the 24-hour revenues of both the Spider-Man 3 film and the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book release, they said.
Microsoft vice president Shane Kim said that September 25 was "the most active Xbox Live gaming day in history," with more than one million online players playing Halo 3
sorry buddy, 2007 belongs to microsoft. better luck next year, just hope for your sake and all other sony fan-boys sake that they dont release gears of war two.
oh and no one cares about japan, they dont like fps's and awesome games like that, they like dragons, little import cars, and guys that look like girls, when it comes to their video games.
