I got a money order 2 weeks ago to make a payment for my car and just now received a letter saying that they didn't get the payment. I lost the receipt stub but know the actual time, date, amount. Would that help in getting my money back from where I bought the money order? Or is there anything I can do? Thanks

go back to where you bought the money order, and ask the owner to show you the back of a blank money order. There's usually a phone numbe to contact regarding these issues. If you had a receipt or even at least had the receippt numbers then you can cancel it,but it would cost you a small fee.Usually its a 15$ or $20 fee to do so.You dont have the receipt so unless the store where you bought it has a copy of the receipt.
I just had a problem with my money order being lost the othe day so I found out all about it.

I agree with the above advice, but I have to add a word of warning---with the receipt or without, it will be a long time before you get a refund. The reason is that the money order company has no idea what really happened to your money order or whose name is on it, it could be stolen and it could be cashed at any time and at any place. There's no way to stop payment on a money order! The money order company is going to sit on this for several months until it's convinced that the order is never going to be cashed.

Usually you need a receipt, BUT go to the place where you got it, and give them the info. Maybe they can find it. You might not get the $$$ back, but you might be able to get a proof of purchase, and take it from there. You have nothing to loose by trying!
