Various studies have indicated that atheists are smarter. This is not surprising; atheists are in the habit of using their brains, and it is to be expected that they would work better.

I have no idea.
However, I would note that here in R&S, I consider that the atheists generally present as being brighter.
You might expect me to say that because I do not believe, but I do know there are some believers who are more intelligent than I am. I doubt that I would attempt a debate with Rowan Williams, for instance. Hmm, I wonder how I would recognise his avatar....?

no matter what you mean by smarter, it has no links to any form
of religious, but it's a gift from God to whom ever He wish whether religious or not. I am a religious person and you know we have so many religous in this world, if one is good on one particular religion he may not be good on the others. it's just like simple way of life, some are great mathemathicians, some are not.......so it's a gift to whom ever God wishses.

it dosent seem very smart to me to believe that this is it and believe all this was created by accident. i don't point out what religion is the right one because they almost all have a higher power. i suppose it is better to stand for something than to stand for nothing and atheists don't really stand for anything when it comes to life ethics. people in general tend to believe what suits them best. so i think it is stupid to beleive that we are the higher power but that dosent make someone stupid, just mislead

Why would you ask such a question? What is smarter - an ape or a chimpanzee? Who really cares? All people are stupid. Does not matter what you think you know. That includes me.
