Is it bad for my knees and back to bend down to pick up my 7 pound doggie? Is there a way that I should pick him up? Well, thanks♥

well there was this one time in Nursing school when we were taught of Body Mechanics... the clinical instructors said that when you have to pick something heavy up, you only bend your knees and not your back... where you should get most of the force from your thighs

bend down frontwards from your knees, and while crouching, put both hands UNDER the dog's belly and lift straight up while you are straightening up. NEVER just bend forward while you are standing up to lift the dog or you could severely hurt your back.

That IS the best way to lift. Too many people just do it the other way, which is SO bad for the back. Good for you! You get a star!! :)

Keep your back straight, and bend at the knees.
