Yes they were. They were not allowed in combat at the time. They flew ferry flights of new aircraft to the front to replace old or damaged planes. The carried supplies on some of those aircraft for the men in battle. The medical corps was staffed with women nurses. They were used in the rear areas for staff jobs, some as menial as secretaries and some as important as code breakers and spies for the OSS. America has always used women in war. I am proud to see them have more and more jobs available to them.

As in serving in the war, while the men were away to battle, the women stand up and work to continue supporting the family. Nurses served in the war to take care of the wounded soldiers. Other than that, I don't think they battle against enemies in war.

Yes. WACS in the army. WAVES in the navy. Also of course as nurses and many women were pilots ferrying planes to England. Women fought in the Russian army on the front lines.

Only after passing a spelling test.
And a knowledge of good grammar was an essential requirement as well.
The Russians in WW2 were using women as Snipers, fighter and bomber pilots.

Absolutely!
They did many important things.
For example, new airplanes were flown from the factories to Eurpose mostly by women.
They served bravely, and without them, we would have never won trhe war,
