If you mean the mercenary who died today. He was French and fought mostly in Africa and some island nations as well. He was basically a gun for hire. No, I don't know who was Bob Denard unless we are talking about the same man.

Well he was NOT an American for a start.

So you should be asking the French who he was.

He was a French Mercenary and he died a couple of days ago.

Bob Denard (born 1929 in Bordeaux, France]]) is perhaps the most (in)famous and influential mercenary in the last fifty years.

Denard serverd with the French forces in Indochina and then in French Morocco, before going private in the early 60s. He found plenety of work with the tumultuous de-colonization of Africa and the battle against communism in the region. Denard is known to have participated in conflicts in Zimbabwe, Yemen, Iran, Nigeria, Benin, Gabon, Angola and Zaire.

He has overthrown the government of the Comoros three times. He is responsible for untold numbers of deaths and contributed greatly to the destabilization of Africa that continues today.

For most of his career Denard had the quiet backing of France and the French secret services which wished to maintain French influence over its ex-colonies.

Denard was arrested in 1995 when he attempted to launch a fourth coup in the Comoros without French backing. The French government sent an expeditionary force to counter the rogue Denard and he was apprehended and put on trial. At his trial a number of former Gaullist politicians spoke on his behalf.

If Bob Marley is not to your best five musicians, I'd significantly query your opinion on song. He truthfully is essentially the most celebrated artist of all time. Selling over three hundred million albums international. And it sucks he died so younger considering that of the way so much he might've completed. There aren't too many artists whose song has touched every body around the globe.
