I know some German but my problem is, I need to know how to say I speak some german. I know how to say Ich spreche Deutsch but that's not true in my case because I'm not totally fluent yet. I have been saying Ich spreche klein Deutsch which isn't proper and I need to know the proper way of saying I only speak a little German or only know a little German whichever would be a good way of getting the point across that I'm not totally fluent and only know some German.

As soon as you see her sniffing and scooting about looking to find a place to poop, then scoop her up and take her outside. Stay with her until she "poops" or pees, even if it`s a long time (sometimes takes 15-20 minutes) and then praise her like mad. Take her outside after every meal too. You have to have patience and be prepared to wait outside for as long as it takes. Also you have to be very vigilant when the pup is loose around the house to catch it at the right time and take it outside. Also you need to get up once or twice in the night to take the puppy outside to relieve itself. There are no short cuts! Puppies ARE hard work and need constant supervision, for the first 3-6 months of their life.(approx). It always seems that a puppy just will not do its toilets when its owner is standing outside in the rain wishing the pup would just get on with it.....but that`s where patience comes in! Remember your pup is still very very young . But if you train it correctly she should be fully clean in the house by 4 months old although you will still need to take her outside regularly for a while until she can 100% hold herself for 8 hours or so overnight. Hope this helps a bit. Add: Please Do not train your puppy to use pee pads or to go on newspaper indoors. This will only teach your pup it`s ok to pee and poop indoors. These awful peepads may be ok for a tiny weeny dog but not for a Gsd who is a big pup even at 9-10 weeks old. "Outside" is the only proper and correct way to housetrain a dog. Jmo.

Akigeni's first example was correct. You say "Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch." or "Ich spreche etwas Deutsch." or "Ich spreche ein wenig Deutsch."
I don't agree with her second example, though.

-->"Ich verstandte nur ein bisschen Deutsch" is "I only understand a little German" <--

That's not correct. You could say "Ich verstehe nur ein bisschen/wenig Deutsch." for this. "verstandte" is not a German word. I guess she mixed up the past tense (verstand) and the present tense (verstehen).

Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland!

Akigeni's answer is good.
If you want to get across that you need practice (as opposed to them switching to English) you could say:

Ich muss Deutsch uben. (I have to practice German)
or
Ich probiere Deutsch zu sprechen. (I'm trying to speak German.)

Or something like that...my German's not that great either but people seem to get it when I say those.

when you say 'Ich spreche klein Deutsch' it means 'you speak small German' which is not like it.
if you wanna say, 'i speak a little German', then you may have to say, "ich spreche deutsches wenig'
Ich spreche Deutsch will mean 'I speak German'.
