1-According to Wikipedia:
"Some historians....have argued that the Ten Commandments originated from ancient Egyptian religion, and postulate that the Biblical Jews borrowed the concept after their Exodus from Egypt. Chapter 125 of the [Egyptian] Book of the Dead (a.k.a. the Papyrus of Ani) includes a list of things to which a man must swear in order to enter the afterlife. These sworn statements bear a remarkable resemblance to the Ten Commandments in their nature and their phrasing.....The Book of the Dead has additional requirements, and, of course, doesn't require worship of Yahweh."
The biggest problem with this train of thought, is that there is no evidence archeologically, to even verify the existence of Hebrew slaves in Egypt. While it is very likely that the 10 commandments were a modification of a the Book of the Dead's vows, this detail makes one wonder exactly when and how they were adopted.
2- This isn't news. Research the Council of Nicea. There are many books that, for one reason or another, are not considered canon (The Apocryphea). Furthermore, translating the bible into other languages has caused things to be lost in translation. Finally, there have been edits within the last 20 years (notably the omission of the word Elohim...a plural word that means bretheren or pantheon when translated correctly).
3- Everything that is in the bible is from the church, due to the Council of Nicea.

1. Not just Egyptian mythology, the ideas are even older than that. Idolatry, adultery, respecting parents, not stealing or coveting, etc. etc. All those things were already considered 'wrong' at the time of the 10 Comandments. So who said they had to be original?
2. The Council of Nicea put 'accepted' books in the canon and tried to destroy all the other books. Over the years we have discovered some of the other books and they show how diverse Christianity was before a particular version of it became the official religion of the Roman Empire.
But if you really believe the Bible is the Word of God then it isn't hard to believe that God guided the editing and didn't want those other books included.
3. The churches will -tell- you what is God's word. That's what they're there for!

People always take about the Catholic Church making Edits to the bible. Well, Hello............the Catholic Bible was the first Christan Bible.
Catholicism has been around MUCH longer then the Protestantism.
After all, the King James Bible is an EDITED version of the Catholic Bible. So, how can Protestants be so sure their Bible is so ccorrect.
Further more, the Christian Bibles, both Catholic and Protestant are EDITED versions of the Hebrew Bible. So, who says that Catholics/and or Protestants are 100% correct in their adaptations.
Don't blame one religion. If you truly study the bible, you'll find Protestantism isn't much better then Catholicism. So, trying to Scapegoat Catholicism doesn't really make you any closer to God.

How can you know a question?
you know if the churches changed it how can you tell what is from "god" and what is from the church?
that doesn't even make sense...
What you DON'T know is that the 10 commandments are included, in Egyptian mythology, with quite a few other "commandments"....so if ALL of them were in the commandments, then I might care...but the 10 commandments should be for everyone, not just religious people...Even if you're not religious, you know murdering, stealing, etc. is wrong...
years and YEARS ago...the bible was translated, and the translated, and re translated, and re translated...and then stuff was added, etc. etc. etc....who cares? we know this...obviously you haven't been on Y!A long...

1) MOSES WAS GIVEN THE 10 COMMANDMENTS APPROX. 1500 B.C. WHAT YEAR ARE YOU USING FOR THE EGYPTIAN MYTHOLOGY? WHICH EGYPTIAN MYTHOLOGY ARE YOU USING, THERE ARE 5 DIFFERENT KINDS. ALL 5 BELIEVE IN SEVERAL gods, THE 10 COMMANDMENTS WERE GIVEN BY ONE GOD.
2) I'M NOT CATHOLIC - BUT, I KNOW THEY HAVE A FEW MORE BOOKS ADDED TO THEIR BIBLE.
3) THE WAY YOU CAN TELL WHAT IS FROM GOD:
1)GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL IN GREEK OR HEBREW if you don't believe what you are reading was inspired by God.
2)IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE WHEN READING IT, ASK FOR GOD'S HELP. HE CAN SHOW YOU THE MEANING. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT CHRISTIANITY, ASK JESUS. HE WILL ANSWER YOU.

there is no basis for these claims and you can't prove it either, the bible is a catholic book, the church came before the bible and the church was catholic, read the early church fathers and study the ancient catacombs and the inscriptions. because you believe an assertion doesn't make it true my friend. god bless.

Egyption mythology, myth, that doesn't make sense to start with. But if you want to understand the Bible you have to have some faith in it. Look up and see the stars and the sky. If you don't believe in a creator than the Bible can do you know good anyway. Now the Bible does say that unless you believe in Jesus Christ you will spend eternity in hell with the devil and his angels. The Bible is very clear on this subject. I believe the Bible is correct, I have been born again Christian for over 30 years. I was sitting in church one Sunday when suddenly my heart started beating fast and a voice in my heart started telling me I needed to be saved. So I stepped out on faith, went to the alter and ask Jesus to save me. I have not always been a perfect christian nor not even a good one sometimes but I do try to Pray everyday and ask God to forgive me of my sins and I ask him to make me a better person. I am growing in my faith. I am a work in progress for the Lord. Someday when I meet Jesus he will make me perfect like him. You can be saved right now if you believe in Jesus. Today is the day. Every person on this planet eventually has to make a decision on whether to step out in faith and accept Christ or ignore that searching convicting feeling you get in your heart everytime you here the name of Jesus. Just say this Prayer and believe.Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

The ten commandments may well have been accepted as part of a law before. After all God gave his truth in the beginning, so everyone has a portion of the truth.
As for number three, that is a good point, and that is why it is important that God has provided a second witness and testimony of Christ, and that is the Book of Mormon. It was translated by the gift and power of God, and thus does not have the changes of doctrine made by man. You can pray to know it is of God.

You can't that is what gives a church it's power. Everything is lost in translation. The bible was written by man so it can be adjusted by them too.
