Cashew Butter has a "rich" flavor, is a popular sandwich spread, and can be used to make soups, sauces, and dips.
Cashew Butter
2 cups unsalted roasted (or dry toasted) cashews
3-4 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt, plus more to taste
In the food processor, combine cashews, 3 tbsp vegetable oil, sugar and salt and blend until smooth. Add in some of the remaining oil if the mixture comes together into a ball instead of smoothing out into a paste. The whole process should take only a few minutes. Store in the refrigerator and bring up to room temperature for easy spreading.
Makes about 1 1/2 cups.
ENJOY!!

Homemade Cashew Butter Recipe courtesy Emeril Lagasse, 2003
Show: Emeril Live
Episode: In a Nutshell
From the Food Network...
Cashews are highly perishable and can turn rancid quickly due to their high oil content. Choose vacuum-packed jars or cans over cellophane packaging. Store cashews in a cool, dry place in an airtight container to avoid absorption of other food odors. Cashew butter can be used in place of peanut butter, or as an ingredient in cookies, spreads or other dishes. If desired, substitute peanuts for the cashews to make Homemade Peanut Butter.
2 cups unsalted roasted cashews
2 to 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar, optional
In a food processor or blender, combine the nuts, 2 tablespoons of the oil, the salt, and the sugar, if desired. Process on high speed for 30 seconds. Scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula and process to desired smoothness, adding more oil, 1 teaspoon at a time, if a smoother butter is desired. Adjust the seasoning, to taste.
Transfer to a bowl to use as a dip, spread, or in other recipes, or place in an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.
:-) Hope this helps! Sounds yummy to me! :-)

yes you can..
Ingredients:
2 cups roasted (unsalted) cashews pieces
2 – 3 Tablespoons vegetable oil or butter
Pinch of salt
Instructions:
Combine the cashews, 2 Tablespoons of oil (or butter), and salt in the food processor. Process for 30 seconds, stop the machine and scrape the sides down. Continue to process and scrape down the sides until the cashews butter is a smooth, creamy consistency. If the cashew butter is to pasty, it may be necessary to add a little more oil. Add oil, one teaspoon at time, down the spout while the machine in on until the texture turns smooth.
Transfer the cashew butter to a jar that seals tightly. Refrigerate. Cashew butter is an unprocessed food, and the oil and solids sometimes separate in the jar. If this happens, simply stir together before using it. For a spreadable consistency, warm the cashew butter to room temperature.
enjoy~

Yes there is cashew butter.
its delicious.its made by grinding in a processor and adding oil till smooth. like homemade peanut butter it will seperate and also goes rancid if not used right away.
im not sure about the process used to (homoginize)peanut butter but it involves cooking and addition of solidifiers.
you be better off looking for it in the store.I ve never seeen it in my regular store but I have bought it in health food stores.
also you might try hazelnut butter it,s super yummy esp,the chocolate one.
peace><>

Yes they can (it's great). You can also make almond butter, but you really need a Cuisinart to do it. You can't do it by hand or with a mixer. You could probably use a coffee grinder, but it would probably be messy.
Given the cost of cashews and almonds and the amount you would need, you are better off just going to the market and buying a jar...

yes, it is called cashew butter and is delicious. maybe use a mortar and pestle or a metatel y mano to grind the nuts? it is liable to take a while that way but if you don't have any electrical appliances then those are your options. I use a coffee grinder.
*LOL* I see a lot of answers saying it is next to the peanut butter at the store *LOL* not in my tiny town store it isn't.

I believe that it can. A nut is a nut and well a cashew is a hard substance that can be crushed/mashed/ and mixed with ingredients that may make it a good spread. Come to think of it maybe if I crush cashews it may be a good topping for dessert/ cake/ ice cream/ chicken.....hmmm... Now you got me thinkin!
Happy Mashing! :0)

Why don't you just buy cashew butter? It's right next to the peanut butter in the supermarket.
