I will try to describe this one.. my nana gave me a pair of lamps and i often have guests over that admire these lamps and they ask questions about them only i have no answers so heres wh@ they look like... A man statue standing sideways holding a sword in what appears to be some sort of costume he has a mustache and beard and a hat. If this helps at all my grandmother had a theme for each room in her home of vintage furniture, as well as victorian, mostly 20th century and 19th century i just want to know the name of the statue so i can research some knowledge about it.

There is a website called www.whatsitworthtoyou.com. They are an online appraisal company that will tell you some history and value of an item if you send in photos. Be sure to include any markings or stamps or words that may be on the bottom of the statue.

That almost sounds like the description of an early Spanish soldier or knight (aka conquistador) who claimed parts of the Americas for Spain after conquering the Aztecs, Mayas, and Incas in the 15th to 19th centuries. You can see a picture of Francisco Pizzarro that I uploaded to my photobucket album by going to the url below. It's on page 1. He looks kind of like what you are describing.
