A free guift to all people everywhere. It's something that cannot be earned and is not given to us on the basis of a reward or payment for goods deeds. My question here is why, in your opinion, do so many people appear to be unsaved when Ephesian 2:8-9 clearly spell out the basis on which Gods free gift is given. Today we have so many people trying to impress God with their works and earn a place in heaven. I would like to hear from people with genuine answers please.

Because the Vedas predate your Bible.
Why aren't you following them?
And ditto what Girl Wonder said.

I choose not to base my worldview and raison d'etre on a book.

I think this has to do more with morality rather than "who can score the most points."

Think of it like this:

Who goes to heaven, the man who goes to church, lies, cheats, and steals, or the man who does not know who God is but spends his life helping people.

Don't take the Bible literally, it has more to do with qualitative data rather than quantitative. It is, in my opinion, based on symbolism rather than real life events.

I believe that eternal life when you die is all the good feelings you have felt in your lifetime, and continuing to feel that way for an eternity. No worries, no anger, no negativity, just straight out happiness.

God gives us the gift of salvation completely free, no strings attached. As a Christian, I then do "good works" because I am trying to show my love and appreciation back to God. This is not at all trying to earn salvation, but because I want to be obedient and thankful.

Because the whole business is fiction, without any support from either logic or evidence. Many people have figured this out, and eschew religion as a silly waste of time. For their reasons, see:

To all is given eternal life but it is exaltation that we must strive for. If we do not merit that we will live eternally in a state of mediocrity or worse.

Simple. Read Luke chapter 12.

The blind will continue to be blind. They will not see because they CHOOSE to be blind to the truth.

Also, many are lured away and deceived by the temptations of the many false gods.

1. I don't believe your god is real.
2. I believe that, if your god was real, judging by the demands he makes and his acts in your own holy book, he would be an evil god not worthy of my worship.
